Chemical Nature of Hydrothermal Fluids Generated by Serpentinization and Carbonation of Komatiite: Implications for H2‐Rich Hydrothermal System and Ocean Chemistry in the Early Earth

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2021
H2‐rich ultramafic‐hosted hydrothermal systems are considered to be important places for the origin and early evolution of life. In this study, we conducted two hydrothermal serpentinization/carbonation experiments involving synthetic komatiite under CO2‐

SPH method applied to high speed cutting modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The purpose of this study is to introduce a new approach of high speed cutting numerical modelling. A Lagrangian smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH)- based model is arried out using the Ls-Dyna software.

Body Image Disorders: Comparison between Unilateral Hemisphere Damage and Schizophrenia

open access: yesBehavioural Neurology, 1989
The records of a consecutive series of 100 schizophrenics were examined for any mention of body image disorders. These were present in 45 patients, the most common varieties being anomalous bodily experiences.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Cellular Responses of Human Lymphatic Endothelial Cells to Carbon Nanomaterials

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
One of the greatest challenges to overcome in the pursuit of the medical application of carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) is safety. Particularly, when considering the use of CNMs in drug delivery systems (DDSs), evaluation of safety at the accumulation site ...

Structure and Properties of Arc Ion Plating Deposited AlCrSiN Coatings Controlled by Pulsed Bias Voltage

open access: yesMetals, 2023
AlCrSiN coatings are promising protective candidates for cutting and forming tools. During the coating deposition process, the microstructure and properties of the coatings were dramatically affected by bias voltages.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Genomic insights into phage-host interaction in the deep-sea chemolithoautotrophic Campylobacterota, Nitratiruptor

open access: yesISME Communications, 2022
The genus Nitratiruptor represents one of the most numerically abundant chemolithoautotrophic Campylobacterota populations in the mixing zones of habitats between hydrothermal fluids and ambient seawater in deep-sea hydrothermal environments. We isolated

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
