Dependence of the thermal field in the coated cutting insert on the cutting conditions [PDF]
The dependence of the thermal field in the coated cutting insert on various cutting regimes was investigated in this paper using the finite difference method. The effect of the protective coating on the temperature distribution in the cutting insert was analyzed.

Journal of Friction and Wear, 2007
The conditions of operation of metal-cutting tools in various applications and of various standard dimensions are analyzed. Long-standing statistical observations at a number of industrial facilities have revealed the dominating mechanisms of wear and the main causes of failure of the tools have been established in response to the conditions of their ...

Testing the Supermodular-Cut Condition
Algorithmica, 2013For a function $f:2^{V} \to \mathbb {Z}_{+}$ on a finite set V with f(?)=f(V)=0, a digraph D=(V,A) is called f-connected if it satisfies the f-cut condition, that is, ? D (X)?f(X) for any X⊆V, where ? D (X) is the number of arcs from X to V?X. We show that, for any crossing supermodular function f, the f-connectivity can be tested with a constant ...

Effect of cutting conditions on press cutting of a square pipe
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003Abstract In press cutting of a square pipe, effects of cutting parameters such as the top angle of the punch, wall thickness, side length and material of the pipe on the distortion of the cross-section and surface decline of the cut end to the axis are discussed. Cutting force is also measured and discussed.

Life Prediction of Cutting Tool by the Workpiece Cutting Condition
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Stops to exchange cutting tool, to set up again the tool in a turning operation with CNC or to measure the workpiece dimensions have direct influence on production. The premature removal of the cutting tool results in high cost of machining, since the parcel relating to the cost of the cutting tool increases.

The thermal condition of the tool cutting edge in intermittent cutting
Wear, 1980Abstract The tool/chip interface temperature in intermittent cutting was measured by a tool-work thermocouple method during the machining of mild steel plates with cemented carbide tools on a lathe. The tool/chip interface temperature builds up rapidly when the tool engages the work, retains a high level while cutting and falls off during idling ...

Optimization of cutting conditions during cutting by using neural networks
Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, 2003Abstract Optimum selection of cutting conditions importantly contribute to the increase of productivity and the reduction of costs, therefore utmost attention is paid to this problem in this contribution. In this paper, a neural network-based approach to complex optimization of cutting parameters is proposed.
