Temperature calculation in cutting zones
CIRP Annals, 2018Abstract This paper presents methods for refining the calculation of cutting temperatures. The heat flow densities and temperatures in the chip forming area, the accumulation zone and the area of the plastic contact between chip and tool affect the cutting temperature considerably.

Experimental Cutting Tool Temperature Distributions
Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 2003High temperatures in machining cutting zones activate wear mechanisms that decrease tool life and increase production costs and yet this phenomenon is not fully understood nor characterized. Although experimental work has been performed, the techniques used have generally been difficult to apply, and lacked sufficient resolution and or acceptable ...

Influence of cut front temperature profile on cutting process
ICALEO 2011: 30th International Congress on Laser Materials Processing, Laser Microprocessing and Nanomanufacturing, 2011Laser cutting of metals is one of the most common applications in industrial manufacturing. Due to this, every improvement of process efficiency and the consequential increase of cutting velocity while maintaining the quality implies a high economic potential.

Investigation on partitioned distribution of cutting heat and cutting temperature in micro cutting
International Journal of Mechatronics and Manufacturing Systems, 2016Although the low cutting temperature and a small amount of heat generated are occurred in micro cutting, they are comparably high in a small unit cutting area or zone, and consequent affect the micro cutting process significantly. Thus, such low cutting temperature in micro cutting can cause an excessively dissipated heat into cutting process including

Fresh-cut radish using different cut types and storage temperatures
Postharvest Biology and Technology, 2006This project studied the effects of different types of cuts and storage temperatures on the quality of stored, fresh-cut radish. Two types of cuts (sliced and shredded), and three storage temperatures (1, 5 and 10 ◦ C), were studied during 10 d. Whole radish was used as the control.

Coolants and Cutting Tool Temperatures
1975A recently developed metallographic method of estimating temperature gradients in cutting tools has been used to demonstrate the influence of coolants on the distribution of temperature in tools used to cut nickel and iron at relatively high cutting speeds.

Temperatures in Orthogonal Metal Cutting
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1963The results of a photographic technique for the determination of the complete temperature distribution in the orthogonal metal cutting process are presented; they are found to disagree with previous theoretical predictions. The temperatures along the tool rake face are of particular interest because they are thought to affect the wear of the cutting ...
