Echocardiographic Probability of Pulmonary Hypertension, Cardiac Structural Alterations and All‐Cause Mortality in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Single‐Center Retrospective Cohort Study With Competing Risk Analysis

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 7, July 2026.
Using a Fine‑Gray competing risk model accounting for renal transplantation, pulmonary hypertension probability, age, and right ventricular diameter independently predicted mortality in maintenance hemodialysis patients. Risk profiles differed by vascular access, supporting individualized cardiovascular risk stratification.

Improving the Reliability of Groundwater Recharge Estimates by Modelling Stable Water Isotope Transport in Soils

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Three 1‐D unsaturated zone models (HYDRUS‐1D with isotope fractionation) were calibrated with volumetric water content (θ) alone versus θ and δ18O δ2H from soil water. Adding isotopes constrains the parameter spaces and reproduces isotope profiles despite θ extremes, and reveals heterogeneous recharge in semi‐arid Tamil Nadu, South India.

Women’s Roles in CVE

open access: yes, 2018
This chapter examines recent attempts to apply evolving ideas regarding women’s empowerment, leadership, and participation to the issue of preventing and countering violence extremism (P/CVE). Incorporation of the central tenants of the women, peace, and security agenda in the UN Security Council Resolution on P/CVE and the 2016 Global Strategy for ...

Introducing Chemical Vapor Etching (CVE): A Material‐Selective Approach for Surgically Precise Tarnish Removal

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 37, 2 July 2026.
ABSTRACT The controlled removal of corrosion products is a persistent challenge in fields ranging from industrial alloy protection to cultural heritage conservation. Achieving high precision and selectivity in subtractive treatments remains difficult because of chemical complexity and structural heterogeneity of the corrosion layers.

Red‐Pi: A Low‐Cost Red Teaming Platform for Water Infrastructure Security Assessment

open access: yesSECURITY AND PRIVACY, Volume 9, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT The water and wastewater sector faces growing cyber threats due to rapid digitalization and the use of IoT‐based control systems. Many utilities manage essential services that affect public health and the environment but do not have enough cybersecurity staff and cannot afford regular security tests.

A Novel Deep Learning Model for High‐Latitude Ionospheric Convection Using SuperDARN Data

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Plasma convection at high latitudes is a key manifestation of magnetosphere–ionosphere coupling and serves as a critical indicator of space weather conditions. The Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) provides essential data on ionospheric convection.

Do Humans and GAI See Eye to Eye? Implications of LLM Scoring Volatility in Supplier Evaluations

open access: yesJournal of Business Logistics, Volume 47, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This study compares Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) to human procurement professionals on supplier evaluation tasks. Using Structural Topic Modeling (STM) on 123 government supplier bids from 31 projects solicited by the State of Ohio between January 2023 and December 2024, we compare evaluations from three reasoning models (o3, Grok ...
