An Equilibrium-Dependent Retroviral mRNA Switch Regulates Translational Recoding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Most retroviruses require translational recoding of a viral messenger RNA stop codon to maintain a precise ratio of structural (Gag) and enzymatic (Pol) proteins during virus assembly.

The Role of Asparagine as a Gatekeeper Residue in the Selective Binding of Rare Earth Elements by Lanthanide‐Binding Peptides

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 33, June 12, 2025.
Lanthanide binding tags (LBTs) have been utilized as a green extractant to selectively separate rare earth elements (REEs). We reveal up from the molecular level how the N5 asparagine residue is indispensable in imparting selective complexation between lighter and heavier lanthanides by conformationally functioning as a gate.

Automated and assisted RNA resonance assignment using NMR chemical shift statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The three-dimensional structure determination of RNAs by NMR spectroscopy relies on chemical shift assignment, which still constitutes a bottleneck. In order to develop more efficient assignment strategies, we analysed relationships between sequence and ...

Automated solid-state NMR resonance assignment of protein microcrystals and amyloids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Solid-state NMR is an emerging structure determination technique for crystalline and non-crystalline protein assemblies, e.g., amyloids. Resonance assignment constitutes the first and often very time-consuming step to a structure.

Cyana adelina

open access: yes, 2023
The Cyana adelina species-group Diagnosis. The species-group comprises different looking species the male genitalia of which are characterised by the anellus bearing two sclerotised and serrulate plates and the valva lacking ampulla. In the female genitalia, the posterior section of the corpus bursae is gelatinous and having sclerotised plates while ...

NMR Solution Structure of the N‐Terminal GSPII Domain from the Thermus Thermophilus Traffic ATPase PilF and Reconstruction of its c‐di‐GMP Binding Capability

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 7, April 1, 2025.
GSPII‐A is the first of three consecutive GSPII domains of PilF from Thermus thermophilus and the only one that does not bind c‐di‐GMP. In this study we solve the structure of GSPII‐A and show the key factors hindering c‐di‐GMP binding. Through mutagenesis, we elucidate the minimal motif conservation needed for c‐di‐GMP recognition. Abstract The cyclic

Design of Zn‐Binding Peptide(s) from Protein Fragments

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 7, April 1, 2025.
We have designed a short zinc‐binding peptide by taking fragments from proteins with known structure. We have measured the binding affinity with isothermal calorimetry and the structure of the peptide using CD and NMR spectroscopies. These results were computationally supported by molecular dynamics and density functional theory calculations.
