Anthraquinone Sulfonates as Water‐Soluble Photocatalysts: Synthetic Applications and Perspectives

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, EarlyView.
The development of photochemistry in water is rapidly advancing, and the demand for water‐soluble photocatalysts is increasing. Accordingly, anthraquinone sulfonates are interesting options for the activation of organic molecules through H‐atom transfer, proton‐coupled electron transfer, or the generation of reactive oxygen species.

Method of neutralizing the corrosive surface of amine-cured epoxy resins [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The corrosive alkaline surface layer of an epoxy resin product formed by the curing of the epoxy with an aliphatic amine is eliminated by first applying a non-solvent to remove most or all of the free unreacted amine and then applying a layer of a ...

Ecogenomics and limnological dynamics of a new Thiocapsa species blooming in the whole water column of a karstic lake

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Purple sulfur bacteria (PSB) of the family Chromatiaceae (Gammaproteobacteria) can perform chemo‐ and photo‐lithoautotrophy (through anoxygenic photosynthesis) in anoxic layers of freshwater stratified (including meromictic) lakes. This group has been extensively studied via physiological and ecological approaches, albeit their genomics has ...

Preparation of highly fluorinated polyurethanes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
New polyurethanes, formed from a reaction of a prepolymer diol and a perfluorinated diisocyanate, are nonflammable and possess high corrosion resistance and good low temperature flexibility.

Transition Metal‐Free Direct Electrochemical Carboxylation of Organic Halides Using a Sacrificial Magnesium Anode: Straightforward Synthesis of Carboxylic Acids

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
The direct electrochemical carboxylation of organic halides was carried out in an undivided cell fitted with a sacrificial magnesium anode and a nickel foam cathode. Mechanism investigations account for the in situ generation of an anionic species that is not a genuine Grignard reagent.

Unveiling aluminum diethyl phosphinate dual identity: Transfer from epoxy resins to glass fiber‐reinforced composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Comparing resins with composites, different particle sizes of the flame retardant, and the impact of the flame retardant modes of action on different fire properties. Abstract This study examines the transfer of the flame‐retardant aluminum diethyl phosphinate (AlPi) from epoxy resins to composites and the impact of AlPi on fire behavior and fire ...

Development of High‐Performance Ablative Composites: Synergistic Effects of Alumina Particles and Silica Fabric in the Polybenzoxazine Matrix

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
The illustration depicts the improvement in the mechanical and ablative properties of polybenzoxazine composites according to their alumina particle content. ABSTRACT The aerospace industry is seeking a replacement of toxic phenolics to use in ablative materials. One of the most promising candidates is polybenzoxazine materials because of their extreme
