CYANATE AS A HEMOLYTIC FACTOR [PDF]
During advanced renal failure, and particularly in patients with end-stage renal disease, proteins are carbamylated as a result of a reaction with cyanate. If the carbamylation of proteins adversely alters their biologic activities and structures, then urea must be viewed as an uremic toxin, rather than a surrogate.

Biochemical and structural properties of cyanases from Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa. [PDF]
Cyanate is toxic to all organisms. Cyanase converts cyanate to CO₂ and NH₃ in a bicarbonate-dependent reaction. The biophysical functions and biochemical characteristics of plant cyanases are poorly studied, although it has been investigated in a variety

Anion directed cation templated synthesis of three ternary copper(II) complexes with a monocondensed N2O donor Schiff base and different pseudohalides [PDF]
Three copper(II) complexes, [Cu2(L)2(μ1,1-N3)2] (1), [Cu2(L)2(μ1,1-NCO)2] (2) and [Cu(L)(μ1,5-dca)]n (3), where HL is a tridentate mono-condensed Schiff base, 1-(2-aminoethyliminomethyl)naphthalen-2-ol, and dca is dicyanamide, have been prepared and ...

Processing of analogues of plume fallout in cold regions of Enceladus by energetic electrons [PDF]
Enceladus, a small icy moon of Saturn, is one of the most remarkable bodies in the solar system. This moon is a geologically active object, and despite the lower temperatures on most of its surface, the geothermally heated south polar region presents geysers that spouts a plume made of water (approximately ninety percent), carbon dioxide, methane ...

Urea Complete Conversion to Compound Fertilizer in Industrial‐Scale Tandem Reactors
An industrial‐grade tandem system was developed to fully convert urea (or urea wastewater) into compound fertilizer while generating H2. In a typical cycle, 200 g of urea was used to produce 232 L of pure H2 and 1580 g of solid compound fertilizer (KH2PO4 and NH4H2PO4) without further separation. The core is to develop an electrocatalyst (S‐NiOOH‐Ni(OH)

Estimating the level of carbamoylated plasma non-high-density lipoproteins using infrared spectroscopy [PDF]
Background: The increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality observed in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients can be partly explained by the presence of carbamoylated lipoproteins. Lipid profiles can be determined with infrared spectroscopy. In this

RECENT ADVANCES IN CYANATION REACTIONS†
Transformations involving structurally complex molecules, natural products and representative molecules are extremely important to obtain key reaction intermediates, in addition to accessing molecules with bioactive properties. The development of cyanation methodologies in those molecules becomes important, because nitriles are versatile and important ...
