Performance evaluation of cyanate ester resin
20th IEEE/NPSS Symposium onFusion Engineering, 2003., 2006Traditional epoxy resin systems have long been used for vacuum impregnation of large electro-magnets. However, the mechanical strength of these systems is disappointingly low when operated at temperatures above about 70/spl deg/C where the failure mechanism is more often by adhesion at the copper interface than by cohesion within the resin.

Fluoromethylene Cyanate Ester Resins
2006The synthesis and properties of the fluoromethylene cyanate ester monomer series, NCOCH2(CF2)nCH2OCN, n = 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, and corresponding resins have been described. The resin property of particular importance is the dielectric constant, which decreases from 2.6 at n = 3 to 2.3 (1 GHz) at n ≥ 6.

Fire‐resistant cyanate ester–epoxy blends
Fire and Materials, 2003AbstractThe cure chemistry, thermal stability and fire behaviour of a series of fire‐resistant cyanate ester–epoxy blends were examined. The dicyanate and diepoxide of 1, 1‐dichloro‐2, 2‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)ethylene (bisphenol‐C, BPC) were combined in various molar ratios and the reaction chemistry was monitored using Fourier transform infrared ...

Cyanate Ester Resins, Recent Developments
2007The search for advanced, high performance, high temperature resistant polymers is on the rise in view of the growing demand for polymer matrix composites that are to meet stringent functional requirements for use in the rapidly evolving high-tech area of aerospace.

Structure development in cyanate ester polymerization
Polymer International, 1997We present results on the product distribution obtained from the polymerization of the dicyanate monomer of bisphenol A carried out under different reaction conditions. Small quantities of side-products were observed using both size exclusion chromatography and high-pressure liquid chromatography for samples polymerized under an inert atmosphere ...

Cyanate ester polymerization catalysis by layered-silicates
Polymer, 2004This work examines the effect of Na montmorillonite (Na MMT) and cation exchanged layered montmorillonite on the polymerization of a cyanate ester monomer (1,1-bis(4-cyanatophenyl)ethane). The cyanate ester polymerization reaction is examined using a traditional catalyst and several montmorillonites.

Properties of reinforced cyanate ester resins
1994During the last decade, aromatic cyanate esters have emerged as a new class of thermosetting resins for use as prepreg matrices in both the aerospace and electronics industries. Being derived from the cyanation of hydroxyl-containing species, a variety of backbone structures have been studied [1, 2].

Recent Technological Developments in Cyanate Ester Resins
High Performance Polymers, 1998Although they are relative newcomers to the composites industry, cyanate ester (CE) resins are enjoying unprecedented success in certain applications. Several major space and radome manufacturers have qualified CE resins despite the extensive database on epoxies and the inherently conservative nature of the industry.
