Superior Adhesion of Monolayer Amorphous Carbon to Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The adhesion energy of monolayer amorphous carbon on copper substrate is 85 J m−2, 13 times higher than that of graphene due to covalent‐like bonding between the sp2 carbon structure to copper. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), near‐edge X‐ray absorption (NEXAFS), and (density functional theory) DFT calculations are used to elucidate the ...

Mussel‐Inspired Molecular Strategies for Fabricating Functional Materials With Underwater Adhesion and Self‐Healing Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review systematically examines the nanomechanical mechanisms of mussel‐inspired molecular interactions, primarily investigated by direct force measurement techniques such as surface forces apparatus and atomic force microscopy. The macroscopic adhesive and self‐healing performances of mussel‐inspired functional materials, including coacervates ...

Active Biopaste for Coral Reef Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Preserving coral reefs is essential. A conductive, hardening paste for coral attachment and mineral accretion technology is developed, using a bio‐based acrylate soybean oil matrix and graphene nanoplatelets. Corals are attached with and onto the conductive paste, electricity is applied, water electrolysis is induced, and calcium is deposited at the ...

Tooth fragment reattachment using cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive and flowable composite: An in vitro study

open access: yesEndodontology
Aim: Crown fractures in anterior teeth represent 18%–22% of dental hard tissue injuries. Immediate reattachment of the fragment using composite resin is the preferred treatment option. However, the reattached fragments are prone to fracture.

Sound, Force and Light Induced Emissions from Er3+‐Mn2+ Doped ZnS/CaZnOS Heterostructure for Remote Temperature Monitoring via Photo‐ and Mechanoluminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Er3⁺/Mn2⁺ co‐doped ZnS/CaZnOS heterostructures are developed for remote temperature and force/sound sensing. The material exhibits UV/NIR photoluminescence, with energy transfer influencing color. Mechanoluminescence intensity is measured against applied power. Temperature‐dependent photoluminescence enabled luminescence thermometry.

Interfacial properties of polymethyl α-cyanoacrylate and polybutyl α-cyanoacrylate

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1976
Abstract Several physical properties of two polyalkyl α-cyanoacrylates relevant to their use in pharmaceutical dosage forms have been investigated. Formation of polymer films at several oil-water interfaces reveals films of diverse morphology.

Transcatheter arterial embolization using N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) for gastrointestinal bleeding

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gastrointestinal Intervention
Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is a common and potentially life-threatening emergency that often requires urgent medical intervention. While endoscopic and medical treatments remain the first-line approaches, transcatheter arterial embolization has ...
