The emerging importance of cross‐ploidy hybridisation and introgression

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 8, April 2024.
Abstract Natural hybridisation is now recognised as pervasive in its occurrence across the Tree of Life. Resurgent interest in natural hybridisation fuelled by developments in genomics has led to an improved understanding of the genetic factors that promote or prevent species cross‐mating.

Pest categorisation of Pyrrhoderma noxium

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2024.
Abstract Following the commodity risk assessment of bonsai plants (Pinus parviflora grafted on Pinus thunbergii) from China performed by EFSA, the EFSA Plant Health Panel performed a pest categorisation of Pyrrhoderma noxium, a clearly defined plant pathogenic basidiomycete fungus of the order Hymenochaetales and the family Hymenochaetaceae.

Microsatellite markers designed for tree-fern species Dicksonia sellowiana

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2013
Microsatellite markers were developed for Dicksonia sellowiana (Dicksoniaceae), an overexploited and endangered tree-fern species native to Brazil. From an enriched genomic library, 11 primer pairs were selected and used to characterize 36 D.

Substructural components in the sporoderm of the Family Cyatheaceae

open access: yesPalynology, 2014
The ultrastructure of the sporoderm of three genera of the Family Cyatheaceae was studied in detail, with the aim to elucidate its constituent elements. While the perispore of Alsophila and Sphaeropteris is thick and complex, that of Cyathea is reduced and with a different structure; nevertheless, their basic elements seem to be similar.
