Parallel Electrical Integration of Photo Bio Electrochemical Systems (photo‐BESs): Performance Gains and Load Dependency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parallel wiring of bioelectrochemical devices with conventional generators unexpectedly boosts output. A biophotovoltaic paired with a solar cell delivers up to 50% more power at low loads than their separate contributions; a plant microbial fuel cell shows similar current gains.

Cyberspace and National Security

open access: yes
As more and more of our societal functions migrate online, the importance of the role that cyberspace, and more specifically cybersecurity, plays in the context of national security is constantly increasing. This trend is unlikely to be reversed. Indeed,

A method for function name recovery in binaries via hierarchical semantic propagation

open access: yesCybersecurity
The large-scale deployment of IoT devices has led to widespread use of stripped firmware binaries, where function names are removed, leaving many functions anonymous. This obscures program semantics and heightens security risks by hiding vulnerabilities.

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

Elimination of Necking and Aspect Ratio Dependence in Uniaxial Actuators by Continuous Fiber Reinforcement

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel carbon fiber reinforcement for dielectric elastomer actuators enhances actuation force while decoupling electromechanical performance from the actuator's aspect ratio. Unlike conventional fiber reinforcements, it enables a uniform planar stretch state along the entire actuator.
