The Permutation Groups and the Equivalence of Cyclic and Quasi-Cyclic Codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We give the class of finite groups which arise as the permutation groups of cyclic codes over finite fields. Furthermore, we extend the results of Brand and Huffman et al. and we find the properties of the set of permutations by which two cyclic codes of

Groups whose Sylow 2-groups have cyclic commutator groups. III

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1971
Publisher Summary The 2-groups dihedral, semi-dihedral, and wreath product are known as “Sylow 2-groups.” All groups having such a Sylow 2-group have been classified. Each of these 2-groups has a cyclic commutator group. However, it is unclear if these are the only 2-groups possessing cyclic commutator groups that can appear as Sylow 2-groups of ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Efficacy of cyclic and extended regimens of ethinylestradiol 0.02 mg ‐levonorgestrel 0.09 mg for dysmenorrhea: A placebo‐controlled, double‐blind, randomized trial

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, 2021
Purpose We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 28‐day Cyclic and 84‐day Extended regimens of NPC‐16 (ethinylestradiol 0.02 mg plus levonorgestrel 0.09 mg) in patients with dysmenorrhea.

Cyclicity degrees of finite groups [PDF]

open access: yesActa Mathematica Hungarica, 2015
We introduce and study the concept of cyclicity degree of a finite group $G$. This quantity measures the probability of a random subgroup of $G$ to be cyclic. Explicit formulas are obtained for some particular classes of finite groups. An asymptotic formula and several minimality/maximality results on cyclicity degrees are also inferred.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

On the factorised subgroups of products of cyclic and non-cyclic finite $p$-groups

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique
Let $p$ be an odd prime and let $ G = AB $ be a finite $p$-group that is the product of a cyclic subgroup $A$ and a non-cyclic subgroup $B$. Suppose in addition that the nilpotency class of $B$ is less than $\frac{p}{2}$.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...
