A micromechanical model for loading and unloading behavior of fiber reinforced plastics under cyclic loading

Polymer Composites, 2020
AbstractThe high fatigue resistance and low weight features make the unidirectional‐carbon fiber reinforced plastics (UD‐CFRP) attractive for cyclic loading applications. However, the complex damage mechanisms within the composite hinder the understanding of its fatigue response.

Permeability Characteristics of Broken Coal and Rock Under Cyclic Loading and Unloading

Natural Resources Research, 2018
During longwall mining, the permeability evaluation in a caving zone is one of the most challenging risks for mine operators because it controls the behavior of gas flow and it significantly influences gob gas extraction and spontaneous combustion. Based on the stress environment of repeated mining in the Huainan coal mine, this study discusses the ...

Progressive weakening of zeolite granules due to cyclic moisture loading and unloading

Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 2015
Abstract The influence of moisture content and cyclic moisture loading and unloading on the mechanical properties like the strength of three different types of zeolite granules has been studied by uniaxial compression tests. The tested granules had been processed using different contents of binder and different thermal drying/activation temperatures.

Determination of Shear Stress-Strain Curve From Torsion Tests for Loading-Unloading and Cyclic Loading

Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 1997
This paper discusses a method, based on Nadai’s solution, which can be used to determine the true (Cauchy) shear stress-strain curve of a material by means of torsion test of a solid shaft. The method is shown to be applicable to loading, unloading and cyclic loading. It is also applicable to fixed-end torsion of a solid shaft in the large shear strain

Adjustable buttons for ACL graft cortical fixation partially fail with cyclic loading and unloading

Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2018
Despite good initial pullout strength, it is unclear whether adjustable button (AB) devices for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) soft-tissue graft fixation, which are based on the Chinese finger trap technique, resist cyclic loading. Furthermore, they have never been tested in a cyclic protocol including complete unloading.

The axial and radial permeability testing of coal under cyclic loading and unloading

Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2019
Porous reservoir rocks are often anisotropic in permeability. It is necessary, therefore, to study the effect of anisotropy on the permeability of porous coal seams that are subjected to stress during repeated mining of grouped coal seams. In the present investigation, specialized permeability evaluation equipment, known as gas injection to flush ...

Reversible plastic strain during cyclic loading–unloading of Mg and Mg–Zn alloys

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2007
Abstract Large hysteresis loops are observed during cyclic loading–unloading of Mg and Mg–Zn alloys. This is true for both tension and compression cycling, for grain sizes between 25 and 670 μm, and for Zn contents between 0 and 6 mass%. The loops are ascribed to anelasticity resulting from elastic { 1 0 1 ¯ 2 } twinning.

Nucleotomy Alters Mechanical Function Following Cyclic Loading and Unloaded Recovery of Human Discs

ASME 2012 Summer Bioengineering Conference, Parts A and B, 2012
The intervertebral disc plays a critical role in supporting loads, permitting spinal motion, and dissipating energy. Unfortunately, it is also commonly degenerated, resulting in altered spinal mechanics and low back pain. Nucleotomy is a common treatment for herniated discs and is also used experimentally to simulate degeneration.[1] The procedure ...
