Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.

A New Method for Predicting Dynamic Pile Head Stiffness Considering Pile–Soil Relative Stiffness Under Long-Term Cyclic Loading Conditions

open access: yesBuildings
Under long-term horizontal cyclic loading, the evolution characteristics of the loading and unloading stiffness of piles are an important representation of pile–soil interaction.

Influence of Multistage Target Temperature and Cyclic Loading/Unloading on the Permeability of Polypropylene Fiber Concrete

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
Due to the combined effect of temperature and cyclic loading and unloading, the gas permeability of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete structures changes during service.

Golden‐Ratio–Guided Aperiodic Architected Metamaterials with Simultaneously Enhanced Strength and Toughness

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Guided by the golden ratio, a class of aperiodic architected metamaterials is introduced to address the intrinsic trade‐off between strength and toughness. By unifying local geometric heterogeneity with global order, the golden‐ratio‐guided aperiodic architecture promotes spatial delocalization of damage tolerence regions, leading to more tortuous ...

Compression properties of polymeric syntactic foam composites under cyclic loading

open access: yes, 2019
Syntactic foams are composite materials frequently used in applications requiring the properties of low density and high damage tolerance. In the present work, polymer-based syntactic foams were studied under cyclic compression in order to investigate ...

Experimental data about mechanical behaviour during compression tests for various matted fibres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A specific experimental device has been set up to test compressive mechanical behaviour of an assembly of fibres. Simple compression, as well as cyclic loading experiments and relaxation tests were performed. The experimental set up also allows to record

Crack‐Growing Interlayer Design for Deep Crack Propagation and Ultrahigh Sensitivity Strain Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A crack‐growing semi‐cured polyimide interlayer enabling deep cracks for ultrahigh sensitivity in low‐strain regimes is presented. The sensor achieves a gauge factor of 100 000 at 2% strain and detects subtle deformations such as nasal breathing, highlighting potential for minimally obstructive biomedical and micromechanical sensing applications ...

Bioinspired Bromination Enables Extensible, Strain‐Stiffening Resilin Peptide Scaffolds with Tunable Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioinspired bromination of a resilin‐derived peptide enables the fabrication of electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds that uniquely combine strain‐stiffening elasticity, proteolytic stability, and antioxidant functionality. These brominated peptide–gelatin hybrids mimic the extensibility of natural elastomers, demonstrating tunable mechanical resilience ...

Behaviour of steel fibre reinforced concrete under cyclic compressive loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
An experimental study was carried out to investigate the behaviour of steel fibre reinforced concrete under cyclic compressive loading. Cylindrical specimens containing two volume fractions (one percent and two percent) of steel fibres and plain concrete
