Resistometric studies on powder metallurgical tungsten wires cyclically deformed by torsion at room temperature are reported. In spite of the quite high crack propagation rate in tungsten, the concentration of fatigue induced lattice defects is shown to be comparable in tungsten and copper. (GHT)

The change of the electrical resistivity of copper cyclically deformed in torsion at room temperature and in liquid nitrogen was measured. The fatigue life, hardening and the increments of resistivity of specimens deformed at the two temperatures differed appreciably.
