Modeling Step—Strain Relaxation and Cyclic Deformations of Elastomers [PDF]

open access: yesRubber Chemistry and Technology, 2002
Abstract Data for step—strain relaxation and cyclic compressive deformations of highly viscous short elastomer cylinders are modeled using a large strain rubber viscoelastic constitutive theory with a rate—independent friction stress term added.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete slabs under high-cyclic fatigue loading

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
Infrastructures are frequently vulnerable to sustained cyclic loads and structural vibration. The accumulated cyclic stresses will induce fatigue in the structures and contribute to their inadequate service lifespan.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Understanding the mechanism of Pd-catalyzed allylic substitution of the cyclic difluorinated carbonates

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2008
We present a mechanistic investigation of Pd-catalyzed allylic substitution of cyclic gem-difluorinated carbonates 1 and 4, previously employed in the synthesis of 3',3'-difluoro-2'-hydroxymethyl-4',5'-unsaturated carbocyclic nucleosides in 17 steps. The

Modeling Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Results of Cu and Cu-Thiosemicarbizide-Boron Nitride Nanosheets Electrodes in 3.5 wt% NaCl Solution, Based on an Electrochemical Reaction Mechanism

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
The corrosion behavior of copper and copper-functionalized boron nitride nanocomposites (Cu-BNNS) was studied in a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. Polarization curves and cyclic voltammetry experiments were used to differentiate the various stages of corrosion ...

Calculation of cyclic voltammetric responses for the reductive formation of catalyst-substrate adducts on electrode surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Electrocatalysts based on monolayers of transition-metal complexes attached to electrode surfaces frequently follow mechanisms in which a chemical step is interposed between the first and subsequent electron-transfer steps.

Statistics of two-dimensional random walks, the "cyclic sieving phenomenon" and the Hofstadter model

open access: yes, 2015
We focus on the algebraic area probability distribution of planar random walks on a square lattice with $m_1$, $m_2$, $l_1$ and $l_2$ steps right, left, up and down. We aim, in particular, at the algebraic area generating function $Z_{m_1,m_2,l_1,l_2}(Q)$

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Template-Directed One-Step Synthesis of Cyclic Trimers by ADMET

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2006
A trifurcated template, containing three secondary dialkylammonium ion recognition sites for encirclement by a dibenzo [24]crown-8-containing acyclic diene, is used to promote acyclic diene metatheses (ADMET) catalyzed by ruthenium-alkylidene complexes, affording a cyclic trimer in 55% yield.
