Effects of cyclic shear stress and average shear stress on the cyclic loading failure of marine silty sand

open access: yesLowland Technology International, 2015
This paper presents the cyclic direct simple shear (CDSS) tests to explain the long term cyclic behavior of marine soil deposits. Cyclic behavior of marine soil deposits depend on the number of loading cycles, vertical effective stress, cyclic shear strain amplitude, relative density, and cyclic and average shear stresses.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Does cyclic water stress damage wheat yield more than a single stress?

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The occurrence of water stress during wheat growth is more frequent due to climate change. Three experiments (cyclic drought, cyclic waterlogging, and cyclic drought plus waterlogging) were conducted to investigate the effects of mild and severe cyclic ...

Cyclic J integral using linear matching method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The extended version of the latest Linear Matching Method (LMM) has the capability to evaluate the stable cyclic response, which produces cyclic stresses, residual stresses and plastic strain ranges for the low cycle fatigue assessment with cyclic load ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Stress-induced cyclical hypreprolactinemia.

open access: yesIndian journal of psychiatry, 2011
Both hyperprolactinemia and depressive disorder are known manifestations of hypothyroidism. However, hyperprolactinemia with overt symptomatology per se has not been reported to precede all episodes of organic depressive disorder. We report a similar presentation.

Description and simulation of cyclic stress-strain response during residual stress relaxation under cyclic load

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2011
AbstractCompressive residual stresses are often induced by mechanical surface treatment such as shot peening for the purpose of improving fatigue life of components. Cyclic relaxation of the induced compressive residual stress, however, reduces the benefit.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
