Does a Lack of Awareness of Cycloid Psychosis Hamper Adequate Treatment for Patients Suffering From This Disorder? A Case Report

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2020
Categorial systems of nosology are based on a cross-sectional enumeration of symptoms with a predefined cut-off, but hardly capture rapid fluctuations of manifestation nor longitudinal characteristics, e.g., cyclicity.

Real‐World Investigation of Satralizumab in Patients With Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Satralizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin‐6 receptor, has demonstrated efficacy in clinical trials for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). However, its real‐world effectiveness and safety compared to conventional immunosuppressive therapies remain uncertain.

Cyclic resultants

open access: yesJournal of Symbolic Computation, 2005
We characterize polynomials having the same set of nonzero cyclic resultants. Generically, for a polynomial $f$ of degree $d$, there are exactly $2^{d-1}$ distinct degree $d$ polynomials with the same set of cyclic resultants as $f$. However, in the generic monic case, degree $d$ polynomials are uniquely determined by their cyclic resultants. Moreover,

Acoustic Measures Capture Speech Dysfunction in Spinocerebellar Ataxia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCA) are hereditary cerebellar degenerative disorders with a common feature of dysarthria, involving impaired phonatory and articulatory control of speech, thereby affecting social communication. In this study, we investigated whether acoustic measures could objectively measure speech dysfunction and identify

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Patterns of Postictal Abnormalities in Relation to Status Epilepticus in Adults

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Abnormalities on peri‐ictal diffusion‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI‐PMAs) are well‐established for patients with status epilepticus (SE), but knowledge on patterns of DWI‐PMAs and their prognostic impact is sparse. Methods This systematic review and individual participant data meta‐analysis included observational studies ...

Recursion in Language: A Layered-Derivation Approach

open access: yesBiolinguistics, 2011
This paper argues that recursion in language is to be understood not in terms of embedding, but in terms of derivational layering. A construction is recursive if part of its input is the output of a separate derivational layer.

THE NATURE OF CYCLIC STRUCTURE OF THE ICE COMPLEX, EAST SIBERIA

open access: yesGeography, Environment, Sustainability, 2013
The features of cyclic structure in the Karga-Sartan Ice Complex (IC) deposits in Northern Yakutia have been studied for the coastal lowlands. We have analyzed cycles of different genesis (cryolithological, structural, lithological, and soil-vegetation ...

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.
