The Cycloid Permanent Magnetic Gear

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2006
This paper presents a new permanent-magnet gear based on the cycloid gearing principle. which normally is characterized by an extreme torque density and a very high gearing ratio. An initial design of the proposed magnetic gear was designed, analyzed, and optimized with an analytical model regarding torque density.

The design and construction of cycloidal magnetic gears

2017 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (IEMDC), 2017
The cycloidal magnetic gear will produce more torque than a competing planetary magnetic gear due to the presence of one air gap and no ferromagnetic pieces. Maximum torque production is dependent on the ratio of the outer to inner ring radius and the eccentricity, or displacement of the inner ring.
