Quantitative correction method for the grinding errors of cycloidal gears in precision reducer

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2020
The motion accuracy of a precision reducer mainly depends on the transmission quality of the cycloid-pin gear, which is determined by the grinding accuracy of the cycloidal gear. The poor meshing characteristics caused by grinding errors in the cycloidal

Generating Cycloidal Gears for 3D Printing

open access: yesCoRR, 2016
(Shortened version of abstract in article itself) This article describes an algorithm for producing, for any desired resolution and any desired numbers of wheel and pinion teeth, polygonal approximations to the shapes of a pair of cycloidal gears that mesh correctly. An Octave implementation of the algorithm, mostly written in 2014, is included.

Fold Walker: An Origami‐Inspired Quadruped Robot for Multipattern Locomotion and Object Grasping

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, Volume 2, Issue 1, February 2026.
This article presents Fold Walker, an origami‐inspired quadruped robot capable of multipattern locomotion and object grasping. With each leg featuring two rotational folds, the robot can transform from a flat 2D configuration into complex 3D poses. Furthermore, its trunk and legs can be one‐shot 3D printed as a unified structure, greatly simplifying ...

Influence of Tooth Profile of Cycloidal Pin of RV Reducer on Meshing Stiffness

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2021
In order to study the influence of the tooth shape parameters of the cycloidal pin on the meshing stiffness, the meshing stiffness model of the cycloidal pinion drive pair is constructed based on Hertz theory.

Construction of Milling Force Model of Cycloid Gear

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract The change of the milling force during the milling process will directly affect the machining accuracy of the cycloid gear. In this article, the milling force prediction model of the cycloidal gear is used to predict the milling force of the cycloid gear.

On the conflict between science and ethics: the case of the moggel, Labeo umbratus (Teleostei: Cyprinidae) from South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, Volume 108, Issue 2, Page 596-608, February 2026.
Abstract Recent molecular evidence showed that Labeo umbratus comprises two allopatrically distributed genetic lineages, a northern lineage confined to the Orange‐Vaal River system where this species was originally described and a southern lineage with three geographically separated haplogroups (western, central and eastern) distributed across multiple

Design and Analysis of a 6‐Speed Coaxial Magnetic Gearbox With Axial Gear Shifting Mechanism for Automotive Applications

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a multi‐stage magnetic gearbox (MSMG) designed for automotive applications. The proposed architecture provides six distinct gear ratios within an integrated system. By effectively suppressing eddy current losses through adaptive segmentation, this design ensures robust performance for high‐power propulsion systems.

Reconstructing History: Scale Analysis Reveals Long‐Term Changes in Age‐Related Growth of a Coregonid Fish

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
Model fit for change in scale radius length over time by age class, based on linear mixed effect models for (i) radius length as a function of year, age class, and subsequent interaction (dashed lines), and (ii) radius length as a function of year, temperature, phosphorus, and age class, as well as interactions between temperature and phosphorus with ...

A Systematic Review of Sensor Vulnerabilities and Cyber‐Physical Threats in Industrial Robotic Systems

open access: yesIET Cyber-Physical Systems: Theory &Applications, Volume 10, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper addresses a critical gap in the literature of industrial robotics cybersecurity by presenting a comprehensive analysis of vulnerabilities in the sensing systems of industrial robots. In particular, we systematically explore how sensor performance limits, faults and biases can be exploited by attackers who can then turn these inherent ...
