Cyclone separator scaling revisited

Powder Technology, 1996
Abstract It is customary to assume cyclone separator fractional efficiency is independent of the mass distribution of the incoming dust. To test this hypothesis and to clarify the role of other variables known to influence cyclone performance, an experimental investigation of cyclome scaling using response surface techniques was undertaken.

Optimum design of cyclone separator

AIChE Journal, 2009
AbstractCyclone separators are one of the most widely used gas‐solid separators. Although the optimal design of cyclone separators has been suggested earlier, the earlier works do not include all the critical parameters responsible for minimizing the pressure drop which is quite decisive to obtain a correct optimal design.

Electrostatically enhanced cyclone separators

Powder Technology, 1982
Abstract The separative performance of a cyclone can be enhanced if electrical forces are employed to supplement the inertial forces. By precharging the particles and applying a radial electric field within the cyclone, collection efficiency is improved. In the present paper, a model is developed for such an electrostatically augmented cyclone.

LIQUID GAS CYCLONE SEPARATION

1966
Abstract : The paper considers the secondary-flow in a liquid-gas mixture in a cyclone separator. By means of a momentum integral method, an engineering approximation to the secondary (heavy fluid) flow rate is obtained which makes use of an experimental velocity profile determined by ter Linden. This flow rate approximation is physically realistic and

Similitude in cyclone separators

Powder Technology, 2016
Criteria for similitude in reverse flow cyclone separators are developed in this paper explicitly including the inlet particulate probability distribution. The application of these criteria is demonstrated by example using data from the literature. Some practical points to consider when using cyclone similarity relations are presented in the Conclusion.

Experimental study on cyclone separator

2011 Second International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2011
with the development of economy, the township enterprise sprung up, environmental problems become increasingly severe. The counterpart to the State provisions of dust emission index increased, the demand of common cyclone separator is higher and higher. Therefore, how to improve the cyclone separator dust removal efficiency, reduce their resistance, is

Viscosity Effect in Cyclone Separators

Latin American and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference, 2009
Abstract The gas liquid cyclone separator is a device that works as a result of the centrifugal force acting on the denser phase of a two-phase flow. This causes the liquid phase which is denser than the gas, to move outward to the cyclone wall.

Reengineering the cyclone separator

Metal Finishing, 1998
Summary The future of color change and color contamination will always be a big concern in the powder coating industry. Improvements in cyclone recovery systems, as well as booth design and application equipment, are continuously being sought. Available space, cost, ease of operation, and maintenance all must be taken into consideration during the ...

CYCLONE SEPARATOR

1993
Described is a cyclone separator with a separation chamber (9) in a spiral housing (1) fitted with an inlet (3), disposed parallel to a tangent to the housing, for the material to be separated, as well as a separate, tangential inlet for the separator gas, plus a longitudinal outlet (7), disposed concentrically with the separator axis (6), to allow the

Performance improvement of a cyclone separator using multiple subsidiary cyclones

Powder Technology, 2018
Abstract The aim of this study was to develop a new type of cyclone separator that can increase collection efficiency while maintaining a low pressure drop, and compare its collection efficiency and pressure drop with that of the general forms of tangential cyclone separators.
