Cyclonic Storms and Odisha Coast

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2007
The state of Orissa on the east coast of India is called the disaster gateway as it is one of the most vulnerable states in the country with a very high probability of cyclonic hits. The present research analysed that the countryhas had a series of studies on the mathematical modelling of the cyclonic surges or social analysis of the human apathy ...

Estimation of heavy rainfall during cyclonic storms from microwave observations using nonlinear approach over Indian Ocean

open access: yesNatural Hazards, 2012
In this study, an effort has been made to study heavy rainfall events during cyclonic storms over Indian Ocean. This estimate is based on microwave observations from tropical rainfall measuring mission (TRMM) Microwave Imager (TMI).

Storm cyclones in the North Atlantic

Russian Meteorology and Hydrology, 2014
Considered are long-term features and characteristics of storm activity variability in the North Atlantic based on the method of automatic identification of cyclone centers using the data on sea level pressure as well as the estimates of the maximum speed of the surface wind in the area of cyclones.

Cyclone Gonu storm surge in Oman

Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, 2010
Super Cyclone Gonu is the strongest tropical cyclone on record in the Arabian Sea. Gonu caused coastal damage due to storm surge and storm wave impact as well as wadi flooding. High water marks, overland flow depths, and inundation distances were measured in the coastal flood zones along the Gulf of Oman from 1 to 4 August 2007.
