Prevalence of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in Australia, 2010–2022: A Population‐Based Study Using Linked National Administrative Health Data

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogenous inflammatory condition, with widely varying global prevalence estimates. Frequency of SLE in the general population of Australia has been reported to be notably lower than contemporary estimates in countries such as the US or UK at 19‐39 per 100,000 as opposed to 65‐97 per 100,000.

Developing and Evaluating a Laboratory‐Based Frailty Index (FI‐Lab) for the Prediction of Long‐Term Health Outcomes in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We aimed to construct and evaluate the first laboratory‐based frailty index (FI‐Lab) for predicting adverse outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to compare its predictive ability to that of an existing clinical frailty index (FI).

Post-transplant cyclophosphamide versus anti-thymocyte globulin as graft- versus-host disease prophylaxis in haploidentical transplant

open access: yesHaematologica, 2017
Severe graft-versus-host disease is a major barrier for non-T-cell-depleted haploidentical stem cell transplantation. There is no consensus on the optimal graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis.

Tendon Organoids Enable Functional Tendon Rejuvenation Through ALKBH5‐Dependent RNA Demethylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FT organoids reverse the aged phenotype of tendon cells, reinstating a fetal‐like state. This breakthrough establishes a potent cell source for tendon tissue engineering, effectively advancing regenerative medicine. ABSTRACT Adult tendon injuries pose a major clinical challenge due to limited self‐repair capacity, resulting in suboptimal regeneration ...

Outcomes of haploidentical stem cell transplantation for chronic lymphocytic leukemia: a retrospective study on behalf of the chronic malignancies working party of the EBMT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) may result in long-term disease control in high-risk chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Recently, haploidentical HCT is gaining interest because of better outcomes with post-transplantation ...

CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 Genes in Cyclophosphamide-treated Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Patients: A Pharmacogenetics Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Scholar
Background: Approximately 75% of drug metabolism in clinical settings is attributed to cytochrome P450 enzymes. This study aimed to assess the effects of the CYP3A4*1B and CYP3A5*3 genetic variations on the clinical results of ...

Anti‐PD‐1 Nanobody‐Armored MSLN CAR‐T Therapy for Malignant Mesothelioma: Preclinical and Clinical Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel therapy using engineered immune cells (NAC‐T cells) showed promise for refractory malignant mesothelioma. Based on the encouraging preclinical data, the first‐in‐human trial is initiated, demonstrating tolerable safety and promising anti‐tumor activity (ORR 63.6%, DCR 100%, including one CR).

The protective effects of Allium ampeloprasum Subsp Iranicum on cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression in NMRI Mice: A promising natural immunomodulator [PDF]

open access: yesAvicenna Journal of Phytomedicine
Objective: Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is an effective anticancer drug, but toxic effects against normal human tissues are its dose-limiting drawback. The aim of this research was to investigate the in vivo immunomodulatory activities of Allium ampeloprasum ...
