Diarrhea associated with Cyclospora sp. in Bangladesh
Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1994A spherical acid-fast organism measuring approximately 10 microns in diameter (Cyclospora sp.) has recently been implicated in diarrheal diseases in many parts of the world. We detected this organism in the stools of six Bangladeshi patients with diarrhea. Four patients had chronic diarrhea and two had acute diarrhea at the time of presentation.

CyclosporaSp.: A Coccidian That Causes Diarrhoea In Travellers
Acta Clinica Belgica, 1995Cyclospora sp. is a coccidian (protozoan) that has been incriminated in cases of diarrhoea in particular among travellers. We report two cases of intestinal Cyclospora infection in immunocompetent Belgians, who travelled to Indonesia. Although the diarrhoea persisted for several days recovery seemed to occur spontaneously.

Cryptosporidium sp. and Cyclospora sp
1995The genera Cryptosporidium and Cyclospora constitute two groups of parasitic protozoans, all of which can cause transient diarrhea. Cryptosporidium occurs in a wide variety of hosts, such as sheep, cattle, birds, rodents, and primates including humans, whereas Cyclospora occurrence has so far been described only in humans.1 Experimental evidence based ...

Development and Application of Nested PCR Assay for Detection of Dairy Cattle-Derived Cyclospora sp.
Agricultural Sciences in China, 2007To develop a nested PCR assay for the detection of cattle-derived Cyclospora sp., two pairs of primers were designed on the basis of the cattle-derived Cyclospora sp. sequences. These primers selectively amplified a 168-bp DNA fragment of the 18S rRNA gene of cattle-derived Cyclospora sp.

Combined PCR-oligonucleotide ligation assay for detection of dairy cattle-derived Cyclospora sp.
Veterinary Parasitology, 2007A rapid and sensitive assay for the detection of Cyclospora species in dairy cattle faecal specimens has been developed. The method utilizes a nested PCR to amplify a 168-bp DNA fragment of the 18S rRNA gene of cattle-derived Cyclospora sp. and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)-based oligonucleotide ligation assay (OLA) to detect the ...

A few years ago, a new Coccidian, "Cyclospora sp', has been found in the stools of both immuno-competents and AIDS patients with diarrhoeal illness. The epidemiology, natural history and clinical manifestations of Cyclospora infection have been charted, but its life cycle has not been described yet.
