Finite Element Simulation of a Steady-State Stress Distribution in a Four Stroke Compressed Natural Gas-Direct Injection Engine Cylinder Head [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The main aim of this work is to predict the design performance based on the stress/strain and thermal stress behaviour of cylinder head under various operating conditions.

Thermally Induced Gelling Systems Based on Patchy Polymeric Micelles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
A novel strategy to design thermally induced gelling systems with tunable material properties is reported. Polymeric mixed‐shell micelles displaying multiple thermosensitive patchy domains formed hydrogels by assembling into well‐entangled worm‐like network structures upon heating to body temperature. The patchy micelle design significantly affects the

3D Printed Ultra‐Fast Plastic Scintillators Based on Perovskite‐Photocurable Polymer Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The demand for radiation detection is increasing in a number of fields, including high‐energy physics, medical imaging, and homeland security. This study serves to demonstrate the potential for the fabrication of fast perovskite‐based scintillators with complex shapes via stereolithographic additive manufacturing, representing a new path toward the ...

Engineering the Hierarchical Porosity of Granular Hydrogel Scaffolds Using Porous Microgels to Improve Cell Recruitment and Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
By fabricating and covalently assembling gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) porous microgels, a new class of granular hydrogel scaffolds with hierarchical porosity is developed. These scaffolds have a significantly higher void fraction than their counterparts made up of nonporous microgels, enhancing cell recruitment and tissue integration. This research may

Thermoelastic analysis of FGM hollow cylinder for variable parameters and temperature distributions using FEM

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2020
This paper presents, numerical study of stress field in functionally graded material (FGM) hollow cylinder by using finite element method (FEM). The FGM cylinder is subjected to internal pressure and uniform heat generation.

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.

Cylinder-Cylinder Attraction in Uniform Flow

open access: yesNatural Science, 2018
Two cylinders in a uniform flow can attract each other when their separation distance is within the zones of the perturbed velocities of the cylinders. Enhanced perturbed velocity between cylinders causes lowered pressure by Bernoulli’s law. If the cylinders touch or the gap is very small, the flow will work to separate the cylinders.

Correlation functions on Cylinders

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1994
We have obtained the complete finite-size structure of energy-density correlation functions at all temperatures defined for two-dimensional Ising models on cylindrical lattices, extending the original results of Hecht. This reveals novel structure in terms of winding numbers and confirms predictions from conformal invariance theory to leading order.
