Vitreous Cylinders

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1980
Vitreous cylinders, a rarely discussed ophthalmologic entity, were studied in two clinical cases and in five enucleated eyes. The cylinders were found in four cases of ocular toxoplasmosis, one case of vitreous hemorrhage complicating a malignant melanoma, and one case of pars planitis and one of uveitis, both of unknown causes.

On the cylinder conjecture

Designs, Codes and Cryptography, 2018
Let $AG(3,q)$ be the affine three-dimensional space over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, embedded in the projective space $\mathrm{PG}(3,q)$. A set $U\subset \mathrm{AG}(3, q)$ determines a point (direction) $T$ at infinity if $T$ is collinear with two distinct points $R, S\in U$.

The rotating cylinder rudder: The effect of cylinder roughness and cylinder gap

International Shipbuilding Progress, 1984
Tests have been made in a water tunnel to determine the effect of cylinder roughness on the performance of a model of the rotating cylinder rudder. The measurements showed that the side force developed was increased by using a rough cylinder and an additional improvement was obtained by increasing the cylinder speed ratio above the ratio found to be ...

Packing cylinders on a cylinder with contact constraints

PAMM, 2007
AbstractThe problem of cylinder packing is investigated. The specific problem is to determine the maximum number of congruent cylinders that can be packed around a core cylinder of arbitrary dimensions. The constraint is that their circular face must keep in contact with the core cylinder and there may be no overlapping.

Balancing Cylinder-to-Cylinder Variations in a Multi-Cylinder VCR-HCCI Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2004
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Combustion initiation in an HCCI engine is dependent of several parameters that are not easily controlled like the temperature and pressure history in the cylinder. So achieving the same ignition condition in all the cylinders in a multi-cylinder engine is difficult.

THE CYLINDER-CIPHER

Cryptologia, 1995
Questions Thomas Jefferson's attributed invention of the “cylinder cipher,” notes similar devices before and after his time, and introduces a “mystery device” of this nature in the National Cryptologic Museum, Fort George G. Meade MD.

Cylinders

ACM SIGPLAN Notices, 1971
A form of list structure is described which permits an efficient representation of relational data structures. The general notions of the PLEX and of ring structures, because of their proven value, have been used as a basis; but by systematically treating the array structure of the PLEX as an implicit form of linkage which is complementary to the ...
