Method for determining eigen numbers in heat conduction problems for a cylinder
RELEVANCE. Due to the difficulties of finding eigenvalues and proper functions for bodies with axial (cylinder) and central (ball) symmetries defined in classical methods from the edge Sturm-Liouville problems, including Bessel equations whose exact ...

Analytical Estimation of the Electrostatic Field in Cylinder-Plane and Cylinder-Cylinder Electrode Configurations [PDF]

This work presents analytical formulas for the estimation of the electrostatic field in cylinder-plane and cylinder-cylinder electrode configurations. Assuming a predefined potential difference between the electrodes and given their geometrical characteristics, these could be useful for the solution of numerous ...

(Note that when ~ = 1 the two inequalities coincide.) The proof will consist of two parts: (i) we show the validity in the universal covering of M, /~7/, of the construction given in Figure 3 in [2] (without the symmetry about the vertical geodesic) and then show, as in [2], that the top lateral geodesic in Figure 3 can intersect at most one of the ...

Architected Lattices with a Topological Transition
This article develops topological metamaterials showing multidirectional two‐step deformation under compression by embedding contact‐enabled topological mechanisms into lattice structures. Experiments on 3D‐printed 2D and 3D lattices and finite element simulations are conducted to demonstrate the working principle of the topological metamaterials.

A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

AbstractLet C be a foliation without first integrals given by a Cr,r⩾2, nonsingular action of the cylinder Tk×Rl, k⩾1, on a closed, orientable, connected m-manifold M and Ar(Rp, M, C) be t he space of all Cr nonsingular actions of Rp, p=k + l, on M with underlying foliation C.

Influence of a rough surface on the aerodynamic characteristics of a rotating cylinder
The article considers the influence of the relative roughness of a cylindrical blade on aerodynamic characteristics. It is known that the operation basis of blades under consideration is the Magnus effect, which is characterized by appearance of a ...

Growth-induced axial buckling of a slender elastic filament embedded in an isotropic elastic matrix [PDF]
We investigate the problem of an axially-loaded, isotropic, slender cylinder embedded in a soft, isotropic, outer elastic matrix. The cylinder undergoes uniform axial growth, whilst both the cylinder and surrounding elastic matrix are confined between ...
