A Critical Review of Approaches to the Design of Floating-Liner Apparatus for Instantaneous Piston Assembly Friction Measurement

open access: yesLubricants, 2021
Several approaches have been developed to measure instantaneous friction between the piston assembly and cylinder in internal combustion (IC) engines, such as floating-liner, reciprocating liner, instantaneous mean effective pressure (IMEP), fixed sleeve,

CFD Analysis of the Effect of Dimples and Cylinder Liner Honing Groove on the Tribological Characteristics of a Low Displacement Engine

open access: yesLubricants, 2022
The contact between the piston rings and the cylinder liner is an interface with a strong influence on the tribological behavior and, therefore, directly affects the useful life of the engine components and fuel consumption.

Tribological Performance and Scuffing Resistance of Cast-Iron Cylinder Liners and Al-Si Alloy Cylinder Liners

open access: yesCoatings, 2023
In order to better determine the applicable working conditions of Al-Si alloy cylinder liners and cast-iron cylinder liners, their tribological performance and scuffing resistance are discussed in this paper. After wear and scuffing tests, it was found that cast-iron cylinder liners had better wear resistance and better scuffing resistance, but poor ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Analysis of Cavitation on Cylinder Liner and Cylinder Block

open access: yesJOURNAL OF THE MARINE ENGINEERING SOCIETY IN JAPAN, 1987
The pressure fluctuation of cooling water in the water jacket of a diesel engine is caused by the vibration of the cylinder liner induced by the piston slap. The cavitation bubbles arise from this pressure fluctuation. When the bubble is broken, the impact pressure occurs and give an injury to the wall of the cylinder liner and the cylinder block. In ...

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.
