Resonance‐induced restoration of rock permeability degraded by heavy components of crude oil

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Resonance‐induced changes occur in filtration properties of sedimentary rocks in crude paraffin oil flow under acoustic vibrations. Experimental data on (a) pressure drop; (b) permeability; (c) pressure at the rock inlet; and (d) pressure at the rock outlet are presented.

Subspace Acceleration for Efficient Nonlinear Water Wave Simulation

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
We introduce an exponentially weighted subspace acceleration technique to reduce GMRES iterations for solving the Poisson equation with time‐dependent coefficients in nonlinear, dispersive free‐surface flows governed by the incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations. The method significantly reduces memory requirements and computational complexity compared

Theory of Supercritical Coupling and Generalized Bound States in the Continuum

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
We develop a general theory of supercritical coupling and generalized bound states in the continuum (gBICs), revealing how interference between radiative and absorptive channels enables quality factors beyond conventional material‐loss limits. The framework unifies non‐Hermitian mode coupling, causality‐driven reactive interactions, and interference ...

The benefits of clustering in cylindrical algebraic decomposition

open access: yes, 2022
Cylindrical Algebraic Decomposition (CAD) is a very powerful algorithm with many potential applications, however, its doubly exponential complexity limits its usability. In this document we demonstrate how the techniques of adjacency and clustering would

Four Directions, One Solution: Enabling Rapid Diffusion Tensor MRI for Ultra‐Low Field Using Deep Learning

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose This study revisits the tetrahedral encoding strategy originally proposed to accelerate Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DT‐MRI) by reducing the requisite number of diffusion‐weighted measurements to four. We examine its practical limitations and explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can extend its utility. Specifically,

A Review of Mechanical Reinforcement and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Carbon Nanotube Fiber Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
PSPP‐TRL mapping of CNT‐modified CFRP literature, with four recurring confusions resolved and five scale‐up problems quantified. ABSTRACT Carbon nanotube‐modified fiber composites are often presented as a route to stronger, tougher, and self‐sensing structural materials.

On Minimal and Minimum Cylindrical Algebraic Decompositions

open access: yesProceedings of the 2024 International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation
We consider cylindrical algebraic decompositions (CADs) as a tool for representing semi-algebraic subsets of $\mathbb{R}^n$. In this framework, a CAD $\mathscr{C}$ is adapted to a given set $S$ if $S$ is a union of cells of $\mathscr{C}$. Different algorithms computing an adapted CAD may produce different outputs, usually with redundant cell divisions.

An Incremental Algorithm for Computing Cylindrical Algebraic Decompositions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we propose an incremental algorithm for computing cylindrical algebraic decompositions. The algorithm consists of two parts: computing a complex cylindrical tree and refining this complex tree into a cylindrical tree in real space.

Influence of Arc Faults on Pressure Production Characteristics in AC Turret of UHV Transformers

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The overpressure caused by arc fault in the oil tank can lead to a transformer explosion. Since the AC turret of transformers serves to connect the transformer windings with the AC busbar, the arc current can be extremely high if an earth fault arc occurs leading to potentially hazardous pressure.

Survey on differential estimators for 3d point clouds

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent advancements in 3D scanning technologies, including LiDAR and photogrammetry, have enabled the precise digital replication of real‐world objects. These methods are widely used in fields such as GIS, robotics, and cultural heritage. However, the point clouds generated by such scans are often noisy and unstructured, posing challenges for ...
