Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Mechanical Properties of Architected Polymer Lattice Materials: A Comparative Study of Additive Manufacturing and CAD Using FEM and µ‐CT

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...

Adaptive beamforming using neural networks for conformal antenna array uses

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
In communication applications, the radiation pattern of conformal antenna arrays is a critical design consideration. By electronically steering the main radiating beam in both azimuth and elevation, a hemispherical coverage can be achieved, enabling a ...

Beamforming of Joint Polarization-Space Matched Filtering for Conformal Array

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Due to the polarization mismatch of the antenna, the received signal suffers from energy loss. The conventional beamforming algorithms could not be applied to the conformal array because of the varying curvature.

Investigation of Multibeam Forming Algorithm for Cylindrical Conformal Array Antenna

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2022
A multibeam forming algorithm based on cylindrical conformal array antenna is proposed in this paper. A comprehensively optimized algorithm of Taylor weights is used to reduce sidelobes. Multiple beams pointed at different azimuth angles are formed based

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.

Theoretical Investigation of Phonon Polaritons in SiC Micropillar Resonators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Of late there has been a surge of interest in localised phonon polariton resonators which allow for sub-diffraction confinement of light in the mid-infrared spectral region by coupling to optical phonons at the surface of polar dielectrics.
