Dynamic Response of a Thick Piezoelectric Circular Cylindrical Panel: An Exact Solution

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2014
One of the interesting fields that attracted many researchers in recent years is the smart structures. The piezomaterials, because of their ability in converting both mechanical stress and electricity to each other, are very applicable in this field ...

Micro and Nanostructural Diversity of Lizard Osteoderm Capping Tissue in Relation to Mechanical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that lizard osteoderm capping tissue is a hyper‐mineralized hydroxyapatite layer consistently covering the superficial osteoderm surface in those species studied here, yet it varies greatly in morphology, nanostructure, and mechanical performance across species.

MODELING OF THERMOELASTIC WAVES IN ROTATING CYLINDRICAL PANEL BY USING MATRIX FROBENIUS METHOD

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science, 2015
In this paper, free vibrations are investigated in a homogeneous transversely isotropic, rotating cylindrical panel, in context of the linear theory of thermoelasticity.

Welding Deformation Prediction and Control for a Stiffened Curved Panel–Cylindrical Shell Hybrid Structure

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Numerical simulation of the welding process is critical for predicting and controlling structural deformation. Previous numerical studies have predominantly focused on investigating the welding deformation of simple structures.

Nonlinear Vibrations of FGM Cylindrical Panel with Simply Supported Edges in Air Flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2015
Chaotic and periodic motions of an FGM cylindrical panel in hypersonic flow are investigated. The cylindrical panel is also subjected to in-plane external loads and a linear temperature variation in the thickness direction.

Application of formal optimization techniques in thermal/structural design of a heat-pipe-cooled panel for a hypersonic vehicle [PDF]

open access: yes
Nonlinear mathematical programming methods are used to design a radiantly cooled and heat-pipe-cooled panel for a Mach 6.7 transport. The cooled portion of the panel is a hybrid heat-pipe/actively cooled design which uses heat pipes to transport the ...

Cylindrical symmetric, non-rotating and non-static or static black hole solutions and the naked singularities

open access: yes, 2019
In this work, a four-dimensional cylindrical symmetric and non-static or static space-times in the backgrounds of anti-de Sitter (AdS) space with perfect stiff fluid, anisotropic fluid and electromagnetic field as the stress-energy tensor, is presented ...

Unraveling Quantitative Sensing Mechanism and Predictive Molecular Metrics for High‐Performance OFET Amine Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel chloro boron subphthalocyanine/polymer blend OFET sensor achieving 0.005 ppb limit of detection for ammonia at room temperature and high selectivity against similar amines. An original theoretical framework is proposed to describe the sensing mechanism, relating analyte molecular volume and Lewis basicity to sensor ...

Reconstruction of Cylindrical Surfaces Using Digital Image Correlation

open access: yesSensors, 2018
A technique for the reconstruction of cylindrical surfaces using optical images with an extension of least squares matching is presented. This technique is based on stereo-image acquisition of a cylindrical object, and it involves displacing the camera ...
