The retention of lactoferrin lactoperoxidase, and lysozyme in milk concentrated by ultrafiltration (UF) before cheesemaking and on cheese properties was studied. Cheese made with concentrated milk retained 17% more LF than the control. No effect on cheese properties was observed. UF could be an additional tool to enhance cheese bioactivity.

Three‐Dimensional Analytical Model of a Free‐Standing Square Rocking Column
ABSTRACT A three‐dimensional analytical two‐degree‐of‐freedom (2DOF) model is developed to describe the bounded rocking response of free‐standing rigid square columns subjected to bidirectional seismic excitation. The formulation extends Housner's classical planar theory by deriving the full three‐dimensional equations of motion for a column ...

ABSTRACT Additive manufacturing by fused deposition modelling (FDM) has expanded the use of engineering thermoplastics in environments where long‐term durability remains insufficiently characterized. In this work, the molecular and microstructural aging mechanisms of FDM‐printed polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene (ABS) and high‐impact ...

Study of Streamlines under the Influence of Displacement of Submerged Vanes in Channel Width, and at the Upstream Area of a Cylindrical Bridge Pier in a 180 Degree Sharp Bend [PDF]
In this paper, submerged vanes were placed at the upstream area of a bridge pier located at the 90 degree angle. Then, using the laboratory equipment, a study of flow pattern was conducted throughout the bend, specifically around the pier and submerged ...

The Effect of Geotextile Layer in Decreasing Local Scour of Cylindrical Bridge Pier
Flood currents are considered threatening factors by creating local scour along bridge piers. One method for decreasing local scour is to strengthen the bed against imposed tensions.

ABSTRACT The increasing demand for plant‐based gluten‐free foods has driven exploration of alternative protein ingredients capable of delivering enhanced structural functionality. This study comparatively evaluated five protein concentrates from red kidney bean (RKB), peanut (PF), soybean (SF), black‐eyed bean (BEB) and melon seed (MSF) to elucidate ...

Experimental research of steel-concrete load bearing components of bridge column piers
A new constructive design of a bridge column pier, which is a load-bearing component of bridges and overpasses as well as of complex multilevel interchanges underlying a transport infrastructure, is proposed.

We show that by tailoring the mixed solvent content, our photocured emulsion‐templated porous siloxane‐based copolymers can undergo high hysteresis over 5000 compressive cycles with minimal damage. These thiol‐ene siloxane polymers show exceptional mechanical performance, which was maintained, demonstrating these outstanding properties.
