Second derivative of displacement on cylindrical shells by projection moire

Applied Optics, 1989
We describe a new method, based on projection moire, in which fringes relate directly to the second derivative of displacement. The method was applied to a cylindrical shell segment. The experimental results obtained with the new method were found to be in good agreement with strain gauge measurements.

View interpolation using morphed cylindrical projections

2022
Traditional 2D morphing methods have been restricted in their application in the computer animation field by their inability to produce basic transformations such as rotation without introducing distortion. As a result, computer animation relies heavily on physically based 3-dimensional geometric models.

A cylindrical MWPC and radial projection chamber for the E760 experiment

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1989
Abstract The central detector for the Fermilab experiment E760 on charmonium spectroscopy is described. A first report is given on the technological solutions, tested on the working detector, to achieve field shaping and to minimize Coulomb scattering.

A generic projection operator for partial cylindrical algebraic decomposition

Proceedings of the 2003 international symposium on Symbolic and algebraic computation, 2003
This paper provides a starting point for generic quantifier elimination by partial cylindrical algebraic decomposition pcad. On input of a first-order formula over the reals generic pcad outputs a theory and a quantifier-free formula. The theory is a set of negated equations in the free variables of the input formula.

Bi-cylindrical conformal map projection

Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2018
Novel map projections can be derived by solving one of the two primary problems in mathematical cartography: direct and inverse. The combination of the equations of existing projections is a method that belongs to the direct problem category in mathematical cartography.

Projection lithography onto overall cylindrical surfaces

Microelectronic Engineering, 2006
Projection lithography onto overall surfaces of cylindrical and conic specimens was investigated to form precise groove patterns on various curved mechanical parts. Fine grooves on shafts or cylinders are required for developing air-bearings, encoders, lubricant supply routes and other micro-systems.

Locating cylindrical objects from perspective projections

Proceedings of the IEEE 1991 National Aerospace and Electronics Conference NAECON 1991, 2002
The authors address the problem of finding the 3D position and orientation of a circular cylinder using one view and known values of its radius and height. Elliptical projections of the circular ends and straight line projections of the cylinder sides can be used to calculate the cylinder position up to 5 degrees of freedom.

Visualization of Distortions in Cylindrical Projections

2014
Representation of Earth's surface in s plane is distorted in any map projection regardless of it being a sphere or ellipsoid surface. Lengths, areas and angles are distorted. Distortion magnitudes are one of the most important indicators of map projections' quality. Some projections preserve angles (conformal), some preserve areas (equal-area) and some

Note on the Use of Oblique Cylindrical Orthomorphic Projection

The Geographical Journal, 1935
On the map, the parallels are equidistant arcs of circles. The limiting position for each parallel is the point where the tangent from E touches the parallel. The boundary of the whole projection is therefore a circle, with centre at 45? latitude on the central meridian, and radius length of 45?.
