Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

基于热固耦合的矩形过盈配合强度计算

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2014
Interference fit is widely used in mechanical connection. The common interference fit shape is cylindrical or conical, other shape interference fit like rectangle shape is rarely mentioned. So there is no formula or experience can be referred to.The ...

Mathematical modelling of liquid meniscus shape in cylindrical micro-channel for normal and micro gravity conditions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
Mathematical model of liquid meniscus shape in cylindrical micro-channel of the separator unit of condensing/separating system is presented. Moving liquid meniscus in the 10 μm cylindrical microchannel is used as a liquid lock to recover the liquid ...

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Influence of Si Content and Milling Duration on the Microstructure and Mechanical–Tribological Properties of AlCoCrFeNiSi High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...

MreB polymers and curvature localization are enhanced by RodZ and predict E. coli's cylindrical uniformity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
The actin-like protein MreB coordinates the synthesis of the cell wall, which determines cell shape in bacteria. Here, Bratton et al. show that the transmembrane protein RodZ modulates MreB polymer number and curvature preference, contributing to the ...
