Free electron laser generation of x-ray Poincaré beams

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
An optics-free method is proposed to generate x-ray radiation with spatially variant states of polarization via an afterburner extension to a free electron laser.

Generation of arbitrary cylindrical vector vortex beams with cross-polarized modulation

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
Cylindrical vector vortex beams (CVVBs), possessing both spatially nonuniform phase and polarization distribution, have attracted research interests in many applications due to their unique optical properties.

Mathematical representation and experimental generation of cylindrical vector beams

open access: yes, 2011
Cylindrical vector beams are described by the representation formalism of finite electromagnetic beams in free space. This is achieved by factorizing the field vector into a mapping matrix and a Jones-like vector.

Accessing electromagnetic properties of matter with cylindrical vector beams

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
Cylindrical vector beam (CVB) is a structured lightwave characterized by its topologically nontrivial nature of the optical polarization. The unique electromagnetic field configuration of CVBs has been exploited to optical tweezers, laser accelerations ...

Generation of cylindrical vector beams based on metasurface

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2014
A method of generating cylindrical vector beams based on metasurface is presented in this paper. The metasurface is a fused silica with a space-variant non-periodic grating which is written by laser. The non-periodic grating induces a space-variant effective birefringence that modulates the space distribution of polarization state.

Generation of hallow vector beam by high-order cylindrical vector beams

open access: yes
We propose a method for generating hollow beams using higher-order cylindrical vector modes of the form R-TEMpl, where the radial index p is varied from 1 to 3 while the azimuthal index is fixed at l = 1. It is found that this scheme performs identically under incident illumination with either radial or azimuthal polarization.

Superoscillation focusing of high-order cylindrical-vector beams

open access: yesOptics Express
Traditional superoscillation focusing (SOF) typically requires complex optimization of the incident light field. These complexities may limit the practical application of superoscillation. High-order radially polarized Laguerre-Gaussian beams inherently support SOF due to their multi-ring amplitude distribution and 0-π phase alternation, which align ...
