New species of Calonectria and Cylindrocladium isolated from soil in the tropics

open access: yes, 1997
Several Calonectria (Ca.) and Cylindrocladium (Cy.) species were recovered from alfalfa-baited soil samples gathered in Colombia and Venezuela. Perithecia of Calonectria naviculata sp. nov. formed in culture when Venezuelan strains of Gy.

Banana root rot disease caused by Cylindrocladium sp. as related to soil type

open access: yes, 1998
In the carribean islands, bananas are cropped on a large variety of soils, distributed according to chrono-topo-climo-sequences. Under intensive monoculture, Vertisols sustain constant yielding crops while Andosols derived from recent ash deposits are ...

Isolation and characterization of microsatellite loci in Cylindrocladium parasiticum

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Notes, 2006
Twelve polymorphic microsatellite markers were developed for Cylindrocladium parasiticum, a plant pathogen with a wide host range and the causal agent of the serious disease of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea) known as cylindrocladium black rot (CBR ...

Calonectria species and their Cylindrocladium anamorphs: species with clavate vesicles [PDF]

open access: yesStudies in Mycology, 2006
The present study compares all known species of Cylindrocladium that have clavate vesicles. Several isolates were obtained from baited soils collected in various parts of the world, while others were associated with leaf litter or symptomatic plant hosts.

Cylindrocladium pseudonaviculatum sp. nov. from New Zealand, and new Cylindrocladium records from Vietnam

Sydowia, 2002
Cylindrocladium pseudonaviculatum is newly described from leaf spots of Buxus sempervirens collected in New Zealand. This species resembles Cy. naviculatum, but is distinct in having longer and wider conidia. Sequence data derived from the β-tubulin gene also support Cy.
