Effect of alpha-cypermethrin and theta-cypermethrin on delayed rectifier potassium currents in rat hippocampal neurons

NeuroToxicology, 2009
Cypermethrin is a photostable synthetic pyrethroid and the most widely used Type II pyrethroid pesticide. The effects of two different stereoisomers of cypermethrin insecticides, alpha-cypermethrin and theta-cypermethrin, on the delayed rectifier potassium current (IK) in hippocampal neurons of rat, were studied using whole-cell patch clamp technique ...

Fate of cypermethrin in Malaysian oil palm plantation

Drug Testing and Analysis, 2020
AbstractCypermethrin is a pyrethroid insecticide commonly used to control bagworm infestation in oil palm plantations. It is applied through spraying onto the leaves where the bagworms reside. This article reports the fate of cypermethrin used in a Malaysian oil palm plantation during a typical dry season through the analysis of cypermethrin residue in

Cadmium potentiates toxicity of cypermethrin in zebrafish

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2015
Abstract Co-occurrence of pesticides such as synthetic pyrethroids and metals in aquatic ecosystems raises concerns over their combined ecological effects. Cypermethrin, 1 of the top 5 synthetic pyrethroids in use, has been extensively detected in surface water.

[Antiandrogenic effects of cypermethrin and beta-cypermethrin].

Zhonghua lao dong wei sheng zhi ye bing za zhi = Zhonghua laodong weisheng zhiyebing zazhi = Chinese journal of industrial hygiene and occupational diseases, 2012
To investigate the antiandrogenic activities of cypermethrin and beta-cypermethrin in vitro and in vivo.Transcriptional activation assay based on MDA-kb2 cell was used to determine the antiandrogenic effect of cypermethrin and beta-cypermethrin in vitro.

Nephrotoxicity of cypermethrin in rats. Histopathological aspects.

Histology and histopathology, 2020
Cypermethrin (CYP) is an important type II pyrethroid pesticide widely used to protect crops against pests and insect infestations. However, its toxicity is a risk to both human health and the surrounding environment. The present study was conducted to investigate the nephrotoxic effect and histopathological changes caused by Cypermethrin in the kidney

Stereoselective Degradation Kinetics of Theta-Cypermethrin in Rats

Environmental Science & Technology, 2006
The enantioselective degradation and chiral conversion of theta-cypermethrin (TCYM) in rats have been studied via intravenous (i.v.) injection. The degradation kinetics and the enantiomer fraction (EF) were determined by means of normal-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with diode array detection (DAD) and a cellulosetris-(3,5 ...

Myelopathy following Cypermethrin Poisoning.

The Journal of the Association of Physicians of India, 2018
Cypermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid and pyrimethrin analogue. Cypermethrin poisoning produces neurological manifestations due to its primary target on sodium channels.1 Neuropathy following cypermethrin poisoning is common. But myelopathy is rare and not reported so far.

Dissolution properties of cypermethrin/cyclodextrin complexes

Journal of Inclusion Phenomena and Macrocyclic Chemistry, 2008
Cypermethrin—a very effective pyrethroid-type insecticide—has been complexed with β-cyclodextrin and peracetylated-β-cyclodextrin with different guest content. Dissolution measurements by reversed phase HPLC method, together with UV-spectrophotometry, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry were applied to prove the inclusion complex ...

Five office workers inadvertently exposed to cypermethrin

Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1992
Five cases of poisoning by cypermethrin, a pyrethroid pesticide, are presented. The chemical was inadvertently introduced to the air-conditioning ducts and the patients inhaled it. Exposed patients experienced shortness of breath, nausea, headaches, and irritability.
