Acaricidal activity of small molecule antagonists of the tick kinin receptor against Rhipicephalus microplus acaricide‐susceptible and resistant strains

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 2, Page 1618-1628, February 2026.
Two small molecules, SACC‐0039590 and SACC‐0428788, killed cattle fever tick, R. microplus, susceptible Deutch strain and pyrethroid resistant Arauquita strain larvae. SACC‐0039590 at 1 mM decreased the reproductive parameters of Deutch females. Abstract BACKGROUND Resistance to acaricides underscores the need for tick control alternatives.

Evaluation of the pollution pressures posed by groups of chemicals on British riverine invertebrate populations

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 106-127, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Globally, rivers receive a diverse range of chemicals, including metals, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, petrochemicals, human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and personal care products. However, the extent to which these different chemical groups affect riverine invertebrate communities is not well defined.

Impact of noise on the behaviour and biochemical parameters of the crayfish Cherax quadricarinatus and Cherax destructor

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 328, Issue 2, Page 146-164, February 2026.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of acoustic stimulus on the behavioural and biochemical responses of two species of crayfish, Cherax destructor and Cherax quadricarinatus. Our results showed that exposure to noise significantly affects in both species motility parameters, agonistic interactions and acoustic signals emitted. In terms of

Toxicological effects of cypermethrin on female albino rats

open access: yesToxicology International, 2011
A study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of cypermethrin on reproduction of female albino rats. The experimental rats were fed cypermethrin at 50 mg/kg b. wt. continuously for a period of 2 and 4 weeks. Feed and water intake was also noted daily for control, vehicle treated and cypermethrin-treated rats.
