Cyperus rotundus est souvent décrite comme la pire mauvaise herbe au monde. Cette espèce se propage principalement par le développement d'un large réseau de tubercules le long des rhizomes, facilitant les infestations. Des mesures doivent être prises pour freiner la propagation de C. rotundus dès son apparition.
