Threat and Appeasement in Barbus Stoliczkanus (Cyprinidae)

Study of agonistic encounters between ♂ Barbus stoliczkanus in aquaria shows that both threat and appeasement lower the probability of a fish being attacked. Correlation between action and reaction indicates that threat inhibits attack in tne reactor by increasing his tendency to flee.
