Reinvestigation of spermatic flagella structure: The teleostean cyprinodontidae

Journal of Ultrastructure and Molecular Structure Research, 1986
The study of 7 genera and 15 species of teleostean fishes belonging to the family Cyprinodontidae shows a similar morphology of mobile spermatozoa and a wide diversity of structure of the spermatic flagellum. The flagellar membrane has one, two, or three lateral expansions depending on the species.

Perimicropylar filaments in eggs of Cyprinodontidae (Pisces, Teleostei)

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1992
We used a scanning electron microscope to observe the eggs of eight species of fishes belonging to the Cyprinodontidae: Aphyosemion geryi, Aphyosemion riggenbachi, Aphyosemion splendopleure, Epiplatys ansorgei, Epiplatys chaperi, Epiplatys fasciolatus, Epiplatys spilargyreus, and Fundulosoma thierryi. The secondary envelope organizes ornamentations on

Assessment of the regional and local metazoan parasite specie-richness of Floridichthys polyommus (Cyprinodontidae) along coastal areas of the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom
The full understanding of the parasite fauna of a host species requires sampling individuals across their entire distribution range. However, very few studies include an analysis considering such geographical coverage.

Patrones biométricos de Orestias (Teleostei: Cyprinodontidae) y su relación con variables ambientales en lagunas y humedales altoandinos del Cusco

Revista de Investigaciones Altoandinas - Journal of High Andean Research
The biometric traits of the genus Orestias and their relationship with physicochemical variables were characterized across nine high-Andean lakes and wetlands in the department of Cusco, Peru, through the sampling of 141 individuals between 2022 and 2023.

Sexual Selection in Nothobranchius guentheri (Pisces: cyprinodontidae)

Evolution, 1976
A number of genera of South American and East African cyprinodontid fishes are restricted to shallow, seasonally ephemeral habitats and for this reason are termed "annual fishes" (Myers, 1952). Survival of these fishes obtains through substrate deposited eggs which enter into developmental diapauses of variable duration and which hatch only after ...

Scale surface morphology in Lebias, Goldfuss, 1820 (Teleostei: Cyprinodontidae)

Journal of Natural History, 2003
The microstructure of the scale surface was analysed in five species of the genus Lebias, Goldfuss by scanning electron microscopy. The morphology, the disposition and type of attachment of the lepidonts on the crest of the circuli, found at the anterior portion of the scales, allowed us to identify a high affinity between L. dispar and L.

Karyological analysis of five tooth-carps (Actinopterygii: Cyprinodontidae) from Iran

Micron, 2008
The karyotypes of five tooth-carps of Iran, Aphanius persicus, Aphanius sophiae, Aphanius dispar, and Aphanius sp. have been investigated by examining metaphase chromosomes spreads obtained from gill epithelial and kidney cells. The diploid chromosome numbers of all five species were 2n=48.
