Inventory of beet cyst nematode on sugar beet farms of three machine rings in Finland 2004-2006 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The effect of harvester ring in the spreading of beet cyst nematodes was studied during the growing season 2004 to 2006.

Human Brain Contusions Contain Pathogenic Transmissible Species that Induce Progressive Cognitive Decline and Tau Pathology in Mice

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 99, Issue 4, Page 897-911, April 2026.
Objective Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an established risk factor for dementia, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Our previous research demonstrated that a single severe TBI in wild‐type (WT) mice induces a prion‐like form of tau (tauTBI) that spreads throughout the brain, leading to memory deficits.

Morphological and molecular identification of cyst nematode species (Heterodera spp.) in Algerian cereal fields

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection Research, 2019
Cereal cyst nematodes (Heterodera spp.) are distributed globally and cause severe production losses of small grain cereals. To investigate the occurrence of cereal cyst nematodes in wheat-growing areas of Algeria, a survey was conducted and 27 cereal ...

Modelling nematode populations in horticultural systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
To date, nematode dynamic models have been very simple, driven only by few parameters without accounting for host quality or environment characteristics.

Effects of Supramolecular Interactions on E/Z‐Isomerizations in Water and Their Importance for Biological Applications

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 359, Issue 4, April 2026.
Biomimetic supramolecular hosts in water affect outcomes and behavior of E/Z‐isomerizations. A deeper understanding of such effects can pave the way to understanding photochemical processes in more complex biological environments. The review displays examples of supramolecular hosts affecting the outcomes of E/Z‐isomerizations and subsequently ...

Non‐Canonical, Somatic‐Dependent Vertical Transmission of Wolbachia in an Aphid

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
We discovered a novel somatic‐associated Wolbachia transmission strategy in cedar bark aphids (Cinara cedri), contrasting with its typical maternal vertical transmission. This unique maternally retained somatic re‐acquisition strategy—a “piggybacking” on the highly efficient obligate symbiont transmission pathway—reveals diverse endosymbiont strategies

Autophagy‐Independent Function of ATG‐18 Is Essential for Gonadal Longevity in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 4, April 2026.
Neuronal and intestinal ATG‐18 promote longevity conferred by germline removal in C. elegans via non‐autophagic functions. In the intestine, ATG‐18 regulates lifespan through its interaction with the gluconeogenic enzyme PCK‐2. ABSTRACT Autophagy, a highly conserved cellular degradation process, plays essential roles in various physiological processes ...

Zebrafish as a model for Catel–Manzke syndrome—identification and characterization of the zebrafish TGDS ortholog

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 8, Page 2248-2269, April 2026.
Zebrafish Tgds, when expressed as a recombinant protein, catalyzes the dehydration of UDP‐D‐glucose, the initial step in the formation of 6‐deoxyhexoses. Corresponding Tgds mutations found in Catel–Manzke syndrome patients lead to reduced enzymatic activity and stability.

Exploring poly‐L‐lysine‐based particle capture for atomic force microscopy studies of extracellular vesicles

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 302, Issue 1, Page 100-110, April 2026.
Abstract We herein investigate the effects of varying the main experimental variables in one of the most used protocols for extracellular vesicle (EV) immobilisation on substrates for subsequent atomic force microscopy (AFM) quantitative morphometry and nanoindentation performed in liquid. We introduce the parameter Q as a quantitative measure of total
