Abstract Abnormalities of the canal of Nuck are rare congenital defects in females, typically repaired in childhood. Canal of Nuck cysts or hydroceles often present as fluctuating inguinal masses, commonly misdiagnosed as hernias. Ultrasonography is key for accurate diagnosis, and surgical excision is usually the primary treatment.

Introduction Müllerian cysts are benign embryologic lesions arising from remnants of the paramesonephric (Müllerian) ducts. They are commonly found in the vagina or cervix, whereas vulvar involvement is rare. Occurrence in the clitoral hood is exceptionally uncommon, and diagnostic differentiation from other vulvar cystic lesions is challenging.

A Rare Case of a Young Girl With Hydrocele of the Canal of Nuck Mimicking Inguinal Hernia: A Case Report. [PDF]
ABSTRACT A rare disorder in females called hydrocele of the canal of Nuck is brought on by the processus vaginalis failing to obliterate. We describe a 13‐year‐old girl who developed a type I hydrocele of the canal of Nuck after presenting with left inguino‐labial swelling. Despite misdiagnosis by ultrasound, surgical exploration verified the diagnosis.

When a nonreducible groin mass is seen in women and girls, a cyst of the canal of Nuck should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Abstract This clinical image presents an unusual report of simultaneous laparoscopic resection of a hydrocele of the canal of Nuck and an ovarian tumor. Laparoscopic treatment with a proper approach is a useful technique in some cases.
