Atypical origin of cystic artery from superior mesenteric artery and untimely termination of common hepatic artery: Concurrent arterial variation in the supra-colic compartment

open access: yesSahel Medical Journal, 2015
Secure laparoscopic cholecystectomy operation requires a sound anatomical knowledge of cystic artery (CA) and all possible variations involving it. Very rarely the CA arises from an extra territorial source of celiac axis.

Study of Risk Factors and Image Findings of Isolated Abdominal Incidentally Detected Aortic Dissection

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 429-435, March/April 2025.
We detect the risk factors and image characteristics of incidentally detected IAAD. Independent risk factors of IAAD included fatty liver and smoking. In the ultrasound findings of IAAD, an intimal flap was frequently observed. In the CT scan, displacement of intimal calcifications was frequently observed. For suspected IAAD, the abdominal aorta should

Multiple Rare Vascular Gastrointestinal Variations Present in a 97-Year-Old Female Donor: Clinical Relevance and Surgical Implications

open access: yesAnatomia
Multiple rare vascular variations were identified in a 97-year-old female donor during the dissection of the gastrointestinal system. An anomalous middle colic artery originated from the celiac trunk alongside the three normal branches.

Cystic Adventitial Disease of Popliteal Artery with Venous Aneurysm of Popliteal Vein: Two-Year Follow-Up after Surgery

open access: yesCase Reports in Vascular Medicine, 2017
We report a rare case of cystic adventitial disease of popliteal artery with venous aneurysm of popliteal vein. A 46-year-old woman had sudden-onset intermittent claudication and coldness in her right leg.

Ultrasound Findings in Symptomatic HADD of the Hand and Wrist. A Case Series of 37 Patients

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Ultrasound enables accurate diagnosis of hydroxyapatite deposition disease of the hand and wrist in patients with acute, non‐traumatic pain, typically in middle‐aged women. Characteristic calcifications, often in the resorptive phase, support diagnosis, while radiography may confirm findings without the need for advanced imaging.

Acute cholecystitis with massive upper gastrointestinal bleed: A case report and review of the literature

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2007
Background Cystic artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication following cholecystitis. Its presentation with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage (UGIH) is even rarer. Thirteen patients with cystic artery pseudoaneurysm have been reported in the literature

Analysis of High‐Risk Factors for Failure of Bleeding Control in Enhanced Myometrial Vascularity Treated With Uterine Artery Embolization

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Enhanced Myometrial Vascularity (EMV) is a serious gynecological condition that often leads to abnormal uterine bleeding. Malformation size and involvement of the uterine fundus are significant risk factors. If EMV diameter > 3.85 cm, the bleeding of the patient is more likely to result in failure in UAE treatment.

Transarterial Embolization of Iatrogenic Cystic Artery Pseudoaneurysm

open access: yesGE: Portuguese Journal of Gastroenterology, 2019
Cystic artery pseudoaneurysm (CAP) is a rare entity most often resulting from inflammatory conditions (acute cholecystitis or pancreatitis) or iatrogenic trauma (cholecystectomy).

The Hidden Architecture of Pancreatic Ducts: 3D Anatomical Reconstruction and Its Implication on Pancreatic Resection

open access: yesJournal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Purpose Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is a common complication after pancreatic surgery and its mechanisms remain incompletely understood. While the diameter of the main pancreatic duct is well‐known to be a risk factor of POPF, the impact of branch duct's (BD) anatomy is not known.

Deep‐Learning Based Contrast Boosting: A Multi‐Center Multi‐Reader Study on Clinical Performance With Standard Contrast Enhanced Brain MRI

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Gadolinium‐based contrast agents are used in brain MRI to improve the visualization of disorders and improve the delineation of lesions. Higher doses of GBCAs can improve lesion sensitivity but may have safety implications, particularly in light of recent findings on gadolinium retention and deposition.
