Ontogeny of purinergic receptor-regulated Ca2+ signaling in mouse cortical collecting duct epithelium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Changes in ATP-induced increase in {[}Ca2+], during collecting duct ontogeny were studied in primary monolayer cultures of mouse ureteric bud (UB) and cortical collecting duct (CCD) cells by Fura-PE3 fluorescence ratio imaging.

Worth the Effort: Lessons for Discovery and Care From an Unusual Case of Gorlin Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gorlin‐Goltz Syndrome (GGS) is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder encompassing a diverse range of clinical manifestations, including congenital anomalies and predisposition to cancer. Pathogenic variants in PTCH1 and SUFU account for up to 79% and 6% of cases, respectively. Currently, an estimated 15%–27% of individuals with a clinical

Can Clipless Division of Cystic Duct be Performed Safely Using Harmonic Scalpel? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2019
Introduction: The increasing frequency of cholecystectomy implies that there is a potential for increasing incidence of rare complications like migration of clips applied for occlusion of cystic duct into the common bile duct and causing biliary ...

Beyond the Lung. Impact of Elexacaftor/Tezacaftor/Ivacaftor on Sinonasal Disease in Children With Cystic Fibrosis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) is a Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) therapy that improves pulmonary function and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) in cystic fibrosis (CF) adults with at least one copy of the F508del CFTR mutation.

Expert Strategies: Skull Base Reconstruction—Global Perspectives, Insights, and Algorithms through a Mixed Methods Approach

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective There is limited consensus on endoscopic skull base surgery (ESBS) reconstruction principles. This study aims to generate comprehensive themes regarding ESBS reconstruction by pooling the experiences of ESBS experts, with comparison to a literature review of current published evidence.

Thirteen-Year Disease-Free Survival after Surgery for Cystic Duct Carcinoma: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastroenterology, 2008
Cystic duct carcinoma is known to have a better prognosis compared to its location in other biliary ducts. Only one case with a survival over ten years has been previously published.

Explicit approximation of the wavenumber for lined ducts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
For acoustic waves in lined ducts, at given frequencies, the dispersion relation leads to a transcendental equation for the wavenumber that has to be solved by numerical methods. Based on Eckart explicit expression initially derived for water waves, accurate explicit approximations are proposed for the wavenumber of the fundamental mode in lined ducts.

Bifurcations and dynamics in inertial focusing of particles in curved rectangular ducts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Particles suspended in fluid flow through a curved duct focus to stable equilibrium positions in the duct cross-section due to the balance of two dominant forces: (i) inertial lift force - arising from the inertia of the fluid, and (ii) secondary drag force - resulting from cross-sectional vortices induced by the curvature of the duct.
