Complete cytoreductive surgery (CCRS) plus Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is the best-known treatment for pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP). In 30% of the cases, PMP realize a widespread involvement of the peritoneal cavity. In these extreme situations, we developed, devoted strategies to optimize the feasibility and safety of CCRS.

To compare the accuracy of MRI and CT for predicting the Peritoneal Cancer Index (PCI) preoperatively compared with the PCI tabulated at surgery.Twenty-two patients underwent preoperative MRI and CT scanning followed by cytoreductive surgery for appendiceal (n = 17) and ovarian (n = 5) cancer.

Patients affected by peritoneal carcinomatosis are frequently submitted to repeated laparotomies to reduce intra-abdominal bulky lesions and to enhance the systemic chemotherapeutic action. Aim of our study is to evaluate feasibility and results of cytoreductive surgery and intraperitoneal chemohypertermic (IPCH) perfusion combined with Ramirez's ...
