Denning Phenology Mediates Sea‐Ice Loss Impacts on Early Reproductive Success in Polar Bears
Global Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.Changes in overwinter sheltering phenology in response to climate change and their fitness consequences have rarely been studied. Here, we show that climate change has disrupted the phenology of overwinter maternity denning in polar bears, with females emerging from den earlier when sea‐ice had been scarce the preceding year.
