Promotional Effect of Bimetallic PtSn/C Catalysts for the Selective Synthesis of Glucaric Acid via Glucose Oxidation

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
PtSn/C catalysts were synthesized and evaluated for the oxidation of glucose to glucaric acid. The reaction proceeds through sequential oxidation of the C1 aldehyde and C6 hydroxyl groups, followed by oxidation of the C6 aldehyde. Pt activates O2, while SnOx promotes adsorption of glucose‐derived intermediates, enabling selective glucaric acid ...

Fe‐Modified Co/CeO2 Catalysts for Sustainable Cyclohexane Oxidation

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2026.
Bimetallic FexCoy/CeO2 catalysts and the corresponding Co/CeO2 and Fe/CeO2 have been studied for cyclohexane oxidation. In the presence of benzaldehyde, Fe1Co2/CeO2 showed a synergistic effect reaching the highest cyclohexane conversion to KA oil. The presence of Co2+/Fe3+ species is accountable of synergy.

Nickel Foam Electrodes—A Versatile, Powerful, and Readily Available Tool in Electro‐Organic Synthesis

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2026.
Nickel foam—one material, two faces, and several versatile roles depending on electrolytic conditions. For more than 50 years, nickel foam electrodes have served in electrosynthesis as powerful and readily available electrode materials. Due to their inexpensive nature and easy handling, they have been widely employed.

Review of the existing maximum residue levels for clopyralid according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract According to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, EFSA has reviewed the maximum residue levels (MRLs) currently established at European level for the pesticide active substance clopyralid. To assess the occurrence of clopyralid residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions ...

Surfactant‐Controlled Microemulsion Synthesis of Au–Pt/TiO2 Catalysts: Linking Nanoparticle Structure to Base‐Free Glucose Oxidation

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Microemulsion environment (droplet exchange, reduction kinetics, and surfactant rigidity) governs Au–Pt nanoparticle size, morphology, and metal distribution, leading to significant differences in catalytic performance, with AOT‐based systems outperforming Triton X and composition controlling selectivity between gluconic and glucuronic acid.

Short‐Term Oral Spermidine Supplementation Modifies Aspects of Neurodegenerative Disease in Flies and Mice With MPS III

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Mucopolysaccharidosis type III (MPS III) is a group of autosomal recessive neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorders that causes progressive cognitive and physical impairment, predominantly in child/early adulthood. The median age of death is 17 years as there is no safe, effective treatment approved.

Growth, Photosynthesis and Root Metabolome Responses to Graded Hypoxia in Contrasting Rice Cultivars

open access: yesJournal of Agronomy and Crop Science, Volume 212, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Rice is an economically important crop and a staple food for a large proportion of the world's population. Although rice is generally adapted to flooded soils, cultivars may differ in their responses to reduced oxygen availability. Here, we evaluated growth, physiological performance and organ‐specific metabolic profiles of two rice cultivars ...

A Three‐Step Route to Functionalized Pyrrole‐2,5‐Dicarboxylic Acids from Galactaric Acid

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Galactaric acid (GalA) has been used as substrate for a library of N‐substituted pyrrole‐2,5‐dicarboxylic acids (PDCAs). Existing routes to N‐substituted PDCAs require many steps or lack product isolation. We present a simple, scalable three‐step synthesis from GalA via a 2‐pyrone salt, giving isolated PDCA derivatives in high yield without ...

Increased D-glucaric acid excretion by jaundiced patients.

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1978
Abstract The urinary excretion of D-glucaric acid, a catabolite of glucuronic acid, is considered to be a reliable index of the state of hepatic microsomal enzyme activity. Because enzyme activity may be altered in liver disease, we examined the effect of liver disease on the excretion of this metabolite and its correlation with liver ...
