Interpreting the M2-brane Action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The world-volume theory of multiple M2-branes proposed recently has a free scalar field. For large vev of this scalar field the world-volume action reduces to that of multiple D2-branes with Yang-Mills coupling proportional to the vev.

Germanane Quantum Dots Promote Metabolic Reprogramming of Immune Cells Toward Regulatory T Cells and Suppress Inflammation In Vitro and In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metabolic changes in immune cells direct the phenotype and function of the host immune system. Smart nanomaterials must target metabolic pathways to direct immune cell fate. This study reports the fabrication and first application of germanane quantum dots (GeHQDs) to modulate inflammation in vitro and in vivo.

Corporate Governance and Financial Performance Nexus: Any Bidirectional Causality?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Management and Economics, 2016
Most studies on corporate governance recognize endogeneity in the nexus between corporate governance and financial performance. Little attention has, however, been paid to the direction of causality between the two phenomena, and hence the Vector Error ...

Phylogenetics of Taxus Using the Internal Transcribed Spacers of Nuclear Ribosomal DNA and Plastid trnL-F Regions

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2020
Taxus is a genus of trees and shrubs with high value in horticulture and medicine as a source of the anticancer drug paclitaxel. The taxonomy of the group is complex due to the lack of diagnostic morphological characters and the high degree of similarity

Ceramic Particle‐Reinforced Medium‐Entropy Alloys With Outstanding Mechanical Properties Prepared by Novel Micro‐LPBF

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative medium entropy alloy (MEA) composite material was fabricated via micro laser powder bed fusion (μ‐LPBF) with appropriate nano‐ceramic particles doping and exhibited markedly improved overall performance, including synergistically enhanced strength and ductility, increased hardness and compressive strength, improved wear resistance and ...

A Note on Exact Solutions and Attractor Mechanism for Non-BPS Black Holes

open access: yes, 2007
We obtain two extremal, spherically symmetric, non-BPS black hole solutions to 4D supergravity, one of which carries D2-D6 charges and the other carries D0-D2-D4 charges. For the D2-D6 case, rather than solving the equations of motion directly, we assume

Rotating strings and D2-branes in type IIA reduction of M-theory on G2 manifold and their semiclassical limits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We consider rotating strings and D2-branes on type IIA background, which arises as dimensional reduction of M-theory on manifold of G2 holonomy, dual to N=1 gauge theory in four dimensions.

Ionic‐Electronic Hydrogel‐Liquid Metal Composite Bilayer with Tissue‐Adaptive and Adhesive Properties for Closed‐Loop Neuroprosthetic System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel–liquid metal composite peripheral nerve interface (HLB‐PNI) combines electrically durable electrodes and tissue‐adhesive hydrogel for tissue‐adaptive implantation. In nerve‐injured rats, it enables the diagnosis of sensory‐motor connectivity via stimulation and neural signal recording.

Heat and mass transfer for a small diameter thermosyphon with low fill ratio

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids, 2020
Thermosyphons of smaller dimensions are more commonly sought after as electronics cooling devices. The interactions of the tube wall and working fluid become more significant as the dimension of a thermosyphon is reduced, particularly for high surface ...
