Economic Aspects of D-C Power Transmission

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Part III: Power Apparatus and Systems, 1957
Results of the study may be summarized as follows: 1. A number of d-c overhead and underground power-transmission systems were designed, with a-c generation and electronic power converters at both ends, operating on a constant-voltage principle. The d-c systems are designed for the same security and reliability conditions as the corresponding a-c ...

Transmission of hepatitis C virus to children and husbands by women infected with contaminated anti-D immunoglobulin

The Lancet, 1995
In 1978-79 a single-source outbreak of hepatitis C occurred in 2533 women who had received virus-contaminated anti-D immunoglobulin. Children and husbands of 74 women with self-limited, and of 86 women with chronic, hepatitis C were followed up for over 10-15 years.

Preferential in-utero transmission of HIV-1 subtype C as compared to HIV-1 subtype A or D

AIDS, 2004
To determine whether different HIV-1 genotypes present in a single cohort, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, showed differences in timing for transmission from mothers to their infants. We determined the maternal viral load, transmission time, and the HIV-1 envelope (env) subtype of 253 HIV-1-infected infants enrolled in a randomized double-blind placebo ...

D-C transformers and transmission

Electrical Engineering, 1938
T. C. Lennox and E. V. De Blieux in a very interesting paper “A D-C Transformer,” published in the Transactions section of the September 1938 issue of Electrical Engineering on pages 554 to 558, describe a device using a mechanical commutator in conjunction with stationary transformers to transform direct current from one voltage to another.

Transmission Rates of Hepatitis C Virus by Different Batches of a Contaminated Anti–D Immunoglobulin Preparation

Vox Sanguinis, 1999
Abstract Background and Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection rate of recipients of different batches of anti‐D immunoglobulin associated with an outbreak of HCV infection which occurred in 1977 and its relationship to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) status of the implicated

Performance Evaluation of S+C+L-Band Optical Transmission over G.652.D and G.654.E Fibers

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2022
We evaluate the performance of 150-nm SCL-band optical transmission over 1280-km G.652.D and G.654.E fibers. By optimizing power allocation and system configuration, SCL-band long-haul transmission enables the same performance as commercial C-band system.

Limiting conditions of the horizontal transmission of the Drosophila C virus in its host (D. melanogaster)

Acta Oecologica, 1998
Abstract We carried out experiments with virus infected females on the horizontal transmission of Drosophila C virus on artificial culture medium and under controlled conditions. The numerical results made it possible to build up an empirical model.

Operation and Control of HV D-C Transmission

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1964
The special requirements on control of inverters for HV (high-voltage) d-c transmission have led to a special control system, which is described. Co-operation between regulators at each end of the transmission is necessary in reducing the consequences of disturbances in the converters.

Realizable Ideal D/C and C/D Conversions for Band-Limited Periodic Signals and Characterization of Single-Carrier Block Transmission

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2011
For a real band-limited periodic signal, there are reconstruction formulas that realize the ideal discrete-to-continuous (D/C) conversion within one period of the signal. However, the previous results may not be suitable for general complex band-limited periodic signals.

Submarine cable for 100-kv D-C power transmission

Electrical Engineering, 1954
A 100-KV D-C submarine cable, 60 miles long and weighing approximately 1,000 tons, has been laid in the Baltic Sea and will be used for transmission of about 20,000-kw d-c power between the mainland of Sweden and the Isle of Gotland.
